Thoughts on Ruger's new entry level AR?
>>
>>28649068
It works.
>>
>>28649145
Is it of any quality?
>>
>>28649193
Yes they are 100% perfect and the best gun ever. You should buy two or three. Maybe more.

Source: work for Ruger. Don't believe a word I say.

But seriously they're fine just buy it and shoot it and get aftermarket stuff for anything you don't like about it. You're better off buying a less expensive first AR and then swapping parts on it after a while than trying to blindly guess at what you want and buying some sort of Picatinny coffee maker handguard or something.

>Buying a pre-built
>In the current AR market
>>
>>28649193
It's a basic model but it should work fine. If you run into any problems, Ruger has amazing customer service that will usually bend over backwards to fix anything. It's an AR so you'll more than likely end up swapping out half the parts eventually.

TLDR; it's a perfectly fine starting rifle
>>
>>28649287
Ruger is best
>>
>>28649068
The price point is killer imo

Get that rifle and a quality optic and you're in business.

Hard to get a rifle and a optic for under $1000 now a days and that rifle let's you do it
>>
>>28649254
>>28649341
Thanks for the feedback, I've been wanting to get an AR for a while and seen IV8888's video on it and thought it would be a good place to start.
>>
>>28649314
You don't save the money building like you used too. Now a days it's just cheaper to buy a complete lower from palmetto and buy a complete upper from BCM
>>
>AR-15

It's pretty obvious which gun is better

Yes you do, especially when you consider the parts you buy later to swap out the ones that came with your rifle. If your only concern about building an AR is to save money, you're doing it wrong anyways.
>>
>>28649422
Buying parts and building your own is definitely cheaper, but not by a terribly large amount. And if you don't feel comfortable going that route then Ruger or S&W is your best bet.
>>
My grandpappy who got me into shooting when I was younger just bought one.
They're a lot of fun. Good little budget guns.
>>
Are they Ruger stronk???

I see these things flying off the shelves at my local stores.
I think they are good if you are new to firearms / ar platform. But desu you can build your own with quality parts for a tad bit less

V.I.D.F. pls go.
>>
>>28649068
I love mine. Accurate, and hella reliable. I have not had a single malfunction in several thousand rounds.

Ruger is the most disrespectful firearm company imaginable

never buy their budget shoe string bullshit
>>
>>28649254
Wait, they sell coffee maker handguards? Where can I get one? Are they just magpul or are they more gucci?
>>

Larry, we're sick of your shit. Who cares if they don't suck your dick like aimpoint. Grow up you manchild.
>>
I bought it yesterday and shot it today. Took 120 rounds flawlessly. Looking forward to shooting it more and putting a red dot on it because the sight is really small and hard for me to see through. Thats the only think i dont like is the sight but for the price, not big deal

Can't speak for their quality but they do sell like hotcakes. Also ruger customer service is top notch so if you do encounter any problems they will most likely fix it for free. I was considering buying a couple to sell during the next panic.

Bought one not too long ago because I don't know shit about AR's. Put over 200 rounds through it the first session no problems. Will be changing out the handguards and stock now that I know what I want in terms of ergonomics and possible attachments.

I learned a lot about the AR's and in the future I would like to build my own from scratch but will be keeping the Ruger because it's a neat, cheap entry rifle.
>>
>>28653423

Why the fuck would they do that?

ar-556 is the best low-price AR on the market, but that doesn't mean it isnt still a low-price AR

>>
>>28654178
Because it's ruger and they have to put at least one thing that is all them on everything. But if you aren't into building your own then it is a good rifle.
>>
>>28649314
you cannot get a sub $600 AR that isnt higher quality enough to warrant taking the time to build it, especially if you dont have the time or tools.
>>
>>28655056
>implying you can't build a superior build for $600 in an hour with under $100 of tools (half of which you should already have), and it won't have proprietary bullshit and an unchromed barrel
>>
>>28655096
That's still more money, and if you're a normie who doesn't want to build multiple rifles then buying tools is a waste. Barrel is CHF.
>>
>>28655096
define "superior" as it relates to a casual shooter.

For a $1000+ AR I completely understand the cost savings for building your own, but at this price point you have to make too many cuts to stay under the price range, especially factoring in our own time and labor.

Some of us just don't want to deal with building it for whatever reason. I love to build computers but have no interest in building a budget AR, in the same way I have no interest building a budget computer.
>>
>>28655147
Because God forbid you buy a $25 vice and a $20 armorer's wrench to get a superior rifle that is actually built to your taste and desires.
>Barrel is CHF.
And bare steel.
>if you're a normie who doesn't want to build multiple rifles then buying tools is a waste.
The only specialized tools are an armorer's wrench and a set of upper vice blocks that retail for about $20. And even then, people often substitute those for blocks of wood. Why are people sacrificing an all around better option for the sake of a few dollars?
>>
>>28655182
same reason people buy food instead of hunting it themselves. People are willing to pay a premium for convenience.

I highly doubt a casual shooter will fire their gun long enough to see the difference between chrome lined or not.
>>
>>28655176
>define "superior" as it relates to a casual shooter.
A barrel that lasts longer and parts that aren't proprietary that will allow for later swapouts should the desire ever strike?
>I completely understand the cost savings
Why are people still under the impression that the only reason you build is to save money?
>you have to make too many cuts to stay under the price range
This isn't some $499 DPMS, this is a $600 rifle that can easily be matched and exceeded with a build.
> especially factoring in our own time and labor.
Do you have an hour to spare, and are capable of using a hammer and a wrench? Because that's all you need to build an AR.
>>
>>28655204
That's a pretty shitty comparison considering how much time, experience and the needed fauna required for sustenance hunting is comapred to buying food at a store. Building an AR requires basic tools, a middle schooler's intellect, and about an hour's worth of time. Foregoing a homebuild in this market isn't so much done out of convenience as it is ignorance and laziness.
>>
>>28649068
>Thoughts on Ruger's new entry level AR?
If I had any interest at all in owning an AR it's probably what I'd get. I don't care if the barrel isn't chrome lined.
>>
>>28653512
The Ruger dude probably just told him to not block an important area. Fucking autist took it personal (if this even happened at all)
>hurr durr no one uses Ruger cuz of bad advertising policies instead of high prices
>>
>>28655295
Don't be too upset, we got plenty of hilarious material to use and another fat manchild to laugh at through our computer monitors.
>>
>>28655245
I never had the intention of changing your mind, I just wanted to let you know from a non shitposting point of view that for some people it just isnt worth it to build a rifle.

In addition "an hour to build" probably makes sense from the point of view of someone like yourself who has probably build tons of rifles, so in your mind the learning process seems easy, its natural.

However one must keep in mind the steps to get to actually assembling the rifle. If you dont have the tools you gotta go and get them, that takes time. You gotta watch tutorials over, and try to follow along, that takes time. You might have trouble with a step, that takes time.

Do you at least understand where I'm coming from? For some people its just easier to spend a little bit more, deal with the "lower" quality parts and call it a day.

> who has probably build tons of rifles
I have built a grand total of two (both ARs) and I learned via watching a youtube vid in my apartment one afternoon during the weekend.
>Do you at least understand where I'm coming from?
Not really, because the time needed should not ever exceed a day, and anyone who shoots guns as a hobby (coupled with posting on 4chan) certainly has a few hours out of a day off at some point. No one who posts here has time that is too valuable to waste making a trip to the local Home Depot.
>>
It's an awesome starting AR. It was my first AR, but the chamber warped after 350 rounds. I sent it in and they replaced the barrel assembly for free. After I got it back I sold it to start looking at building an AR
>>
>>28655352

Why pay $800 for a pre-built AR when you can build your own for like $500?

What exactly does this mean, you can't change things because you have to use their nut?
>>
>>28654178
>>28655688
No, the barrel nut can be replaced with a milspec one. I like it because instead of pulling it down, you simply spin it off. It's easy to overtighten though if you are not paying attention. I haven't had a single problem with mine.
>>
>>28655182
Holy shit, don't be such an autist.
If my uncle wants a computer I'll point him to a prebuilt, and if he wants a gun I'll do the same. It's perfectly alright for some people to just buy things.

>>

Why not check out the M&P sport 2 if you are looking at entry level ARs? It's pretty much S&W's damage control for the 556, but doesn't have any of the proprietary shit on it.

I was looking into these for a while, seem great for off the rack but once I looked at assembling a PSA I realized I could get a better rifle and more features I wanted for same price or a bit more. If your not building my research showed it to be a great deal
