Okay /k/ so I've made my mistakes on this Springfield 1903.
I need to remove the rifle from the stock (which is held in with gorilla glue paper mache for bedding) and properly replace the stock with probably a sporter.
It has no sights.
It's a low number receiver but so far it hasn't exploded using Herters ammo, and I'm not sure I'll try working up loads of 30-06 since it's more just a bolt gun I built out of the bare receiver and wanted to have.
This is a bubba recovery project more than anything so what are some key things I will have to do to properly fit a scope and how long should the barrel be? It's a RA stamped barrel, surplus stock.

A 1903 isnt a cheap rifle, its fairly valuable. Or at least it can be, id take the shame and bring it to a gunshop and have a professional do it. Or send it to the CMP custom shop.

Honestly it was kind of a mistake to try the rebuild in the first place, as it was $300 for the receiver action and I spent a lot out of pocket just getting parts together.
I can buy a 1903-A3 for ~$600-$700 but since this was just an action that's why I don't feel bad for fucking with it.

I have a CMP order form open and I'm gonna call them, see what I can get sourced on a price for fixing it with a PROPER stock and sights.
Barring that, I'll attempt to get a C-stock and rear sight, unless this barrel contour is from an A3 model.
If it's an A3 model, I might be SOL, and have to go for a full sporter or have the receiver drilled and tapped for a scope. I do have a repro A4 scope that I can use. That was my original plan, but when I found that the no-smithing mount I bought used the A3 dovetail, that idea got kicked in the head and I was pissed that the stock didn't fit proper.
So I did what I thought, at the time, was a good idea. And added some bits to make it look kinda Fallout esque. Like I said, did this sometime last year and forgot about it.
