I come to /k/ for the absurd and awesome gun shit that gets posted. I really like the mechanics of firearms and knowing how they work. People post some cooky stuff that I wouldn't find elsewhere. The speed of posting and minimal moderation on /k/ is what does it. It's not as forced-focused as something like barfcom and gets much more traffic. Usually I'll learn of a gun or see something that inspires me and I'll go research further.
I had a hilariously impractical idea while on the crapper last night - an integrally suppressed blowforward tube gun. Instead of using a regular coil spring it uses a stack of circular washer-like leaf springs that also act as the baffles. When the barrel is all the way at the rear it'll be inside the receiver and the gas can expand into the baffles.
So that's why I come to /k/. So I can get inspired.

I started out on /b/, as every useless cunt on 4chan did. Then I lurked around /v/ because I'm an antisocial shit that plays a shitload of vidya. This would be around 2009-2010. Back when Japan Time was a thing, I think. Or GameCenter X, one of those 2. The thing I can most remember is the TORTanic the most. After that, I came into /k/ because I loved some vidya guns, and learned a lot about guns.
I shot a .22 bolt action a year ago, being ausfailian and broke I'm finding it hard to get started owning guns, but I want to.
At the very least, I share the same love of guns anybody here does, and share the same views on gun "control" anybody here does as well.
I don't into /k/ memes to be honest, but I like to browse this board for cool guns and info.

/k/ used to be a slow board, but it isn't anymore. IMO this place used to be a lot more tolerable because good threads could stay up for days, but now they often get pushed off the board by "find a flaw" threads and other such garbage because everyone's too caught up in epic memes to actually talk about the topic of the board. Also, nobody checks the catalog before making threads.
I don't think that the percentage of shitposting retards has increased appreciably, but the increased traffic has brought more as a consequence.

Definitely noticeable how it has changed, everything is a lot more meme'y and leddit. The threads that are the new subreddits are everywhere now.

Wasn't around at the start of /k/ but was for the 10,000th post.
I grew up in california and drank the cool aide hard. I thought guns were bad, Obama was gonna fix everything, smog laws were good etc etc ect. But then I had to join the military due to being a colossal failure. Meeting people from free states really opened my eyes to how wrong cuckifornia is. Then I came here to learn more about guns since literally all I've ever used was the bootcamp m16a4. This place felt like home

Hit a rough patch and everything went to shit and I had to quit. Had to do some harsh things and got into legal trouble abroad.
Now I am unable to build stuff for reasons and post it and went through pretty bad phase and started using again. But I like seeing stuff I posted yeaes ago being posted still.
I care not what others say, this place helped me through stuff. I am trying to quit drugs and as funny as is 4chan helps.

/k/ was the first board I browsed on this site, some three years ago. I'm not really fond of the other boards. Sometimes I browse /pol/ as a source of non MSM news while something is going down. Watching livestreams and keeping tabs on new developments is pretty engaging. The only other board I visit regularly is /cgl/.

The second most considerable benefit is that in general threads it's so much easier to ask for specific advice and quickly get multiple responses.
With more traffic there would just be a higher incidence of (say AR-related) threads and questions, whereas now users can be directed to a general.
