Would you please offer your thoughts /k/?

I am looking to load my new weapon for away from home self defense. Given the list of requirements below what type of round would /k/ suggest? pic related

>9mm.
I am not looking for a discussion on which is best caliber for self defense. The weapon is what it is.

>reliable
no off brand maybe could have a dud in the box bs

>round stops on what it hits
FMJ is too much. A center body mass shot should not travel through. Preferably two layers of sheetrock should render the round non-lethal

>round stays intact until it hits target
Snake shot rounds or anything of the like are not to be considered.

>price is of little relevance
I only have room to carry 31 rounds. With good fortune they will never need to be replaced. I'll practice with something else. That said I am not wealthy. Hell, I am asking for free advice. I'll take free ammo if it meets my conditions.

>tradition is not a factor
Please suggest ANY round that can closely satisfy these requirements. incendiary? tracer? a stick with a bang flag on the end?

If I had to purchase right this minutes I would go with the Winchester 147 gr. Defender.

What might be a better choice?

thank you for the quick reply anon

Federal HSTs, 124 or 147 (my preference) standard pressure.

Check out all the gel tests on youtube, HSTs are ridiculously reliable in terms of expansion and penetration, probably the most reliable right now. Speer Gold Dots are a close second.

why not +p?

Hornady critical defense

You could have just done a google search "Best 9mm self-defense ammo"

Whatever you end up getting make sure it's designed for your barrel length. Most "Duty" rounds are no good in a barrel shorter than 3.5 inches and some defense rounds are weird in barrels greater than that.

Winchester PDX1, Federal HSTs, Speer Gold Dot, and Hornady Critical Duty/Defense are all solid choices for defense. Stick to 115 or 124 grain hollow points.

Good bullets are not cheap, but being dead is more expensive.
You can buy $1.00 self defense bullets and train with $0.25 FMJ equivalents if you wish.

You do need to run through some of your chosen defense round though to make sure your gun likes it.

I remember reading years ago to go with a lighter faster bullet like 124 gr when shooting out of sub compacts because of the shorter barrel = loss of velocity and to avoid heavier 147 gr. True or false?
>>
>>28430059
just use whatever grain weight you normally shoot. It's retarded to use 124 or 147 when all you actually train with is 115

++p+++++++ is the only option

loaded with beeeeeees
>>

Can someone tell me what 124 and 147 are good for specifically? 124 in duty size and 147 for sub compact?
>>
HST
Critical Duty
Gold Dots

In that order for bests self defense 9

+P is less reliable and has more recoil in pocket 9mm guns

It's fine for sub compacts and full sized, but guns like the G43, PM9, and LC9, occasionally have trouble with the 147 +P
>>
>>28430059
It's actually the reverse. 147gr means less loss of velocity in short barrel.

The dude from ShootingTheBull (AmmoQuest) prefers carrying 147gr in his subcompacts

HST 147 gr +p never look back

Great info I would not have known to consider. I think now I can research and find the best round for me.

in return: trigger discipline with tits

Kinda small tits but acceptable

I concur. I use the 124+P and train with White Box 124gr.

Are 147 grain Federal HST rounds, standard pressure, a good match for a Glock 43?
