So I was in Arizona visiting family (I'm from there originally) and my father-in-law knows I like guns, so he took me to cabelas to purchase a rifle.

Cabelas refused me for having an out of State ID, company policy. Not a law tho, went to mom & pop gunstore, told them I was out of state, they said I could buy a long gun, buy not a handgun, NP.

>well that depends also, which state are you from?

Wisconsin.

>OK you're good, we don't do NY or CA

Then he followed with ",none of the commie states" ha-ha might have been a /k/ommando.

Long story short, when he did my background check I was put on a 5 day wait.

No criminal record, hunter, vet.

The guy said "Phx cops get put on holds all the time".

Wtf /k/? Why was my second amendment questioned in the #1 state for gun Rights?
>>
Not OP, but if I'm stationed in California and have an out of state driver's license can I still pick up a lower I ordered?

I'm really not eager to wait for my lower to get to the FFL and have him tell me I need a California Driver's license. He probably deals with 90% people who are in the same situation, but I'm not sure
>>
>>28424378
Cabela's was probably just a company policy issue. I have no idea why there was a wait on just a rifle, what city were you in?

Because of their company policy. They're a private entity and not a good place to buy a gun, on the whole.

Your rights weren't violated. So shut the fuck up.

figured it out. Guess I'll have to dig my orders out of my big bag of paperwork

Read again, friends.

I was denied on my background check after I went to a different store.
>>
>>28424437
Then that was an issue at a federal level that you will probably never find out the answer to.

Unless if dubs, OP has to go on a Max Payne style goose chase to find out.
>>
>>28424448

>unless if dubs

Double negative 2 x nigger.

Ps2 Max Paine was tits.

Ps3 was niggershits.
>>
>>28424401
If you are permanently stationed in California (meaning you live there now) then you're good as far as a California residence. May have to show proof.

If you aren't military than you are probably highly enfuckinated.
>>
>>28424411

I'll bump my own thread responding to you.

>Arizona
>Phx

Phoenix.
>>
>>28424401
Why are you asking now instead of verifying before you ordered your lower?
>>
>>28424401
You should just need a copy of your orders saying you're stationed there.
>>
>>28424437
You weren't denied, you were delayed. There's a difference. This time of year, delays are very common. Cops and even vets get delays all the time, usually because of whatever clearance they have. The initial NICS check will come up as delayed because the first operator doesn't have access to your records and it has to go higher up to be verified. If you get a delay, the store is legally allowed to sell you the firearm within 3 business days, if they don't hear back from NICS in that time.
>>
>>28424511
Because I talked to the FFL over the phone and told him I was stationed here, if there had been a problem I thought he would probably at least mention it, but there's no problem. I just need my state ID and my Orders more than likely.

I don't have a real address, so I'm not really sure to do about that. I have a friend who lives off base so I'll probably just use that address since an on-base box number is not where I live. It's probably not a big deal, people move all the time.
>>
>>28424378
>why wait

the NICS system is occassionally slow, stupid, and manned by people who don't want to do their job.

I basically have the same background as you, but because of the spelling of my last name, I always get put on a wait.
>>
>>28424378
FYI -

I just bought a few firearms yesterday. They are so backed up right now with form 4473's they brought in a few thousand volunteers to help process them, but even with the volunteers, people are buying more and more firearms right now due to Obama's EO and clogging up the system.

In your case OP, some stores are now forcing waits to see what happens with this Obama shit.
>>
The right to keep and bare arms =/= the right to purchase arms from a retailer. For all they know you're a terrorist or worse some lib-tard doing some sort sting for their blog.
>>
>>28424523
>>28424532

OP here, very good insight anons.

I know its just BS, but I find it odd when I bought my first rifle in 2010 and it took about 2 mins, and suddenly I'm denied in 2016.
>>
>>28424545

You are more retarded than I could be if I pretended to be retarded.

Congratulations, you're retarded.

>>
>>28424378
never had an issue purchasing a firearm here in AZ.

You must have something on your record, in AZ having any type of domestic shit can get a hold put on your purchase.

Even if the neighbors call it in, even if you're not involved etc etc.
>>
>>28424378
OP i'm 99% sure that if you take an extra 1 day class in Wisconsin you can get a CCW for Arizona. I think its the only state that you can get certified for while being a Wisconsin resident in Wisconsin.
>>
>>28424881
That's my guess. He's got some kind of charge floating around. They always leave something out.
>>
>>28424926

I already said zero criminal background.

Are you dumb? Lazy? Or illiterate?
>>
>>28424495
You'll need a copy of your PCS orders and your military ID to establish residency.
>>
>>28424953
You're the one who got denied, and they only deny people for criminal or mental health reasons.
>>
>>28424551
There might be a match with someone else of a similar name or the like. Maybe you've got an outstanding parking ticket? Who knows.
>>
>>28424976

>denied

>delayed

Not knowing the difference.

It's dumbasses like you I'm pissed off. Retard.
>>
>>28424953
This is equal to when you experience a legit issue with any certain gun, and you get the few stock responses of
>"Well, I've never encountered any issues with said gun, it must be you."
Because the gun and/or system must be perfect since they've never experienced any problems.
Same can be said of the liberals who think guns are unnecessary because they have never experienced a mugging and the police have always been there for them.

You are considered a resident of your home state though can also place yourself as a resident of the state you are currently living in. Military is fucking weird.
>>
>>28424545
Don't worry I'll be nice.

>>28424561
I think he means the retailer is under no obligation to sell you something. Phrased badly as it is implying you don't have a right to purchase a firearm given how that anon wrote it.
>>
>>28424543
>They are so backed up right now with form 4473's
FYI you don't know what you're talking about. 4473s don't leave the FFL and background checks are performed by the NICS.
>>
>>28427309

See that pisses me off.

Some bitch casheer refused me beer when I was on vacation this season. I'm 28, and my wife was with me (24) and she didn't have her ID.

They treated me like I was buying beer for a stranger for money. Refused to sell me it. She was just a dried up sour cunt, like you.
>>
>>28424723
>>28424589
Not him, but I'm of German descent, and there was a serial sex offender with a similar name to my father. (only middle name was different)

Somehow the FBI was involved and visited our house accidentally during their investigation. It never came up again, the right dude got put away.

Shit happens.
>>
>>28427368
That is store policy man. The just don't want to risk legal action if a minor got caught will alcohol they sold, even if they sold it to someone who was of age.

I've been hit by similar shit. Went to grab some extra ammo at walmart and they refused the sale because my drivers licence was the under 21 version even though I was 22 at the time. It's stupid but all you can really do is suck it up.
>>
>>28427359
Sort of correct. Form 4473 is an ATF form, and NICS is handled by the ATF. I can't vouch for whether or not "volunteers" are part of the equation, but there have been delays.

Cooldown on a recent handgun purchase ended on the day of the San Bernadino shooting and it took 2 hours to get the NICS check done. We as a nation broke records. The ATF was in fact backed up.
>>
>>28427359
It took 2 hours for someone to answer the phone while I sat and waited to pick up my lowers.

Its backed up, faggot. Just like the impacted shit in your gay ass.
>>
>>28427405
>NICS is handled by the ATF
Nope, FBI.

>>28427460
I never said the system wasn't overwhelmed. But your mouth is overwhelmed with cocks.
>>
>>28427401

I see what you're saying, but fuck that

Had a buddy who was 22 with a 19 yo wifey and he bought beer and was hassled like me. Cashier was a cunt but the manager allowed it.

Just because they are underage doesn't mean they can't be around those that can.

Whether it's beer, or firearms.

FREEDOM!

I would consider Wisconsin but I don't want to move East.

I refuse to give you Eskimo kisses, faggot.

Only come if you are white, we don't take kindly in these parts.
>>
>>28427401

Some workers try to assume what they think the store policy is, rather than ask their manager. Granted, most managers are also just as stupid, but at least it's a more appropriate action.

>>28424378

>Two B-dubs in my area
>One put up the "no guns" sign, the other one refuses to.
>All the staff are rude and the food is terrible at the anti-fun one
