I need to ask anon how they got this forend on their 14" Mossberg setup.
But let's have a shotgun thread too.
>>
>>28418126
why would it be any different than a normal length shotgun?
>>
>>28418149
The kit Mossberg offers comes with a forend, so I'm not sure if it has shorter action bars than a normal 500.
>>
>>28418149

Mossberg furniture makes it do more damage.

>>
>>28418294
It's called the raptor grip made by Shockwave technologies

>>28418126
That's the meanest white trash special I've seen in a while.
>>
>>28418126
Gawd, heatsheilds are ugly. That goes . M249' and M240's as well.
>>
>>28418126
iirc the shotgun must have been manufactured from factory without a stock. You cannot buy a 500 and drop the duck grip and shorter barrel on it.
>>
>>28418126
not that anon but you need to buy basically the whole front end from mossberg
you can keep your old pump assembly but the mag tube magspring barrel and mag cap are all off a 590a1

not just any 590 it has to be the short one with no bayonet lug like http://www.mossberg.com/product/590a1-6-shot-51517/

basically you buy a pgo 500 it has to be a factory pgo if you took just any 500 it will probably be a sbs even though it will look identical
then you buy half a 590a1 and the shockwave

this company does the conversions. Mossberg will no longer sell the parts.
>>
>>28419285
I'm calling Mossberg tomorrow, but I believe they resumed sales to non law enforcement recently.
>>
Hey, sup.

The MOE won't fit without modification.

You're gonna need to dremel a new shelf for the action slide lug to shelf on, and hacksaw the lug itself to get enough clearance.

It's been like a year since I did it so I'm a little fuzzy on the details but once you have everything in front of you it's pretty obvious what you need to do.
>>
http://shockwavetechnologies.com/site/?page_id=438

shockwave lists all the parts needed.

am I to understand mossberg sells a complete shockwave kit?

No, just most of the partsnot including the birdshead grip.

Magpul
>>
>>28418126
>>28418571
Am I the only one who hates the aesthetic of those slides? They look so cheap and chinsey.
>>
>>28419416
Does the heat shield hang too low? Or are the action bars too long? I'm not sure what you mean.
>>
>>28419547
Nah, you're not the only one. Magpul AR furniture looks p.good but their 870 and AK furniture looks like hot garbage.
>>
>>28419993
The MOE is just too damn long for that length of slide, by about an inch. So that inch needs to be trimmed from where it can.
>>
>>28420132
Did you use the 6 3/4" mag tube, or the 7 5/8"?
>>
>>28420132
>>28420180
Whoops I meant action slide tube
>>
>>28420132
did you buy the 500 magpul forend or bodge the 870/ar on one it? or had one of the older mossberg 500 forend assembly

magpul says its straight drop in and not compatible with heatshields
>>
>>28420180
6 3/4, the 7 5/8 won't fit on that configuration.
>>28420204
It's the 500 forend. See above, it's meant for the latter.
>>
I don't mean to fuck up your nice conversation here. But I got a question. I got a maverick 88. Thinking about buying a 500 barrel and a 500 8round magazine tube. How hard will it be to make it fit? Will it require some modifications? or is it just bolt on?
>>
>>28420250
those conversion kits cost the same as another mav 88
just buy another gun
it should be compatible
the only issue would be loosening the magtube to remove it some of em are hell to remove while others are easy
>>
>>28420297
I know I could buy another mav for the price. But 120-150$ for the 2 tubes and fixing the gun myself is easier than just buying another gun. I live in Europe you see... But thanks for the info anyway.
>>
>>28418737
how do you prove that it came from the factory like that?
>>
>>28420483
Serial lookup.
>>
>>28420377
You can do it easy. The mag tube is just screwed into the receiver with some kind of glue. If you can twist hard enough, you can break the glue and it will unscrew and you are good to go. Some guy on youtube suggested heating it to cause the glue to fail. I think he used his stove if I remember correctly
>>
>>28420534
I've been thinking, and I've looked into it. Think I will just order the parts and use a heat gun. It can't really be that hard..
>>
>>28420635
I say go for it. Maybe put it in a vise and clamp down on it. You're stuck with a 20" barrel though with that longer mag tube. That's the only length they make for that size tube.
>>
>>28420635
>heat gun
>breaking red loctite
Lol.
>>
>>28420488
it doesnt appear mossberg has a web based serial lookup like Colt, S&W, etc..

even if they did Im skeptical that they'd keep a record of what type of stock a gun shipped with.

I was given a maverick 88 by a friend who no longer wanted it, but I was there on the day he bought it from the gunshop, and he bought it with a pistol grip, but I dont know if it was used or if the shop installed the pistol grip.

I am super interested in a conversion though
>>
Hi, I'm bob Stevens.

I'd like to recommend most magpul shit.

Yeah that's it.
>>
>>28420693
Mossberg is an ass backwards company, you have to call.
>>
>>28418126
That grip is absolute dog shit
>>
>>28418126

Can you ghost load it?
>>
>>28420728
Nope.

It actually feels breddy good anon.
Alot better than the AR wrist killers.
>>
>>28420793
Personally, I hate it. Prefer a hogue any day.
>>
>>28420849
On the 14" conversion it has to be there. The regular pistol grips don't give it enough overall length

Syrian Lannister?
>>
>>28420890
you can do ar AR grip sig brace combo as well for maximum atf butthurt
>>
>>28421289
you know it was specifically some company doing that that lead to the no shouldering sigbrace ruling
>>
>>28421308
No, it wasn't.
>>
>>28421327
yeah it was that letter was a reply to black aces tactical
Early last fall, little-known shotgun maker Black Aces Tactical wrote a letter to the ATF’s Firearms Technology Branch asking if a Sig Brace-equipped shotgun they designed was subject to NFA rules. In its November 14 response, the ATF told the company its shotgun was good to go — with one caveat.

“The submitted weapon, as described and depicted above … is not a ‘firearm’ as defined by the NFA provided the SigTac SB15 pistol stabilizing brace is used as originally designed and not used as a shoulder stock,” wrote Acting Chief of the BATF’s Firearms Technology Branch Max Kingery. “However, should an individual utilize the SigTac SB15 pistol stabilizing brace on the submitted sample as a shoulder stock to fire the weapon from the shoulder, this firearm would then be classified as a ‘short-barreled shotgun.’ ”

In an interview, Black Aces owner Eric Lemoine said the ATF determination was about only his shotgun and had nothing to do with AR pistols.

“The only thing I can say is that the letter states that this applies specifically to this design only. … Just our shotgun,” Lemoine said. “If it’s an AR, it doesn’t mention it in that letter at all.”

then fuckers started asking for more clarification and they did the open letter
>>
>>28421371
The shockwave brace letter was the first to stipulate usage, IIRC. It was brought on by the billions of idiots writing in asking if it was okay.
