This thread is not asking who has the most powerful military force. but rather asking which one has the best trained soldiers. only the basic training received by all soldiers infantry or otherwise is taken into account. If you took a random soldier out of each army and compared them against eachother. which one is the more skilled soldier? one would assume america because they have an immense training budget but i'd like to hear other answers.

Canada

The Royal Marines have the longest basuc training in the world. However that is because it includes training that in other branches is conducted after basic training.
>>
>>28404520
what makes you say that?
>>
Germany
>>
>>28404522
so they basically all go through full infantry school?
>>
>>28404522
How long is their basic?
>>
>>28404557
Yes. Once a soldier finishes that course he is a RM Commando and goes to one of the Battalions.

The non commando jobs are undertaken by other parts of the military that are commando trained but belong to their parent service.
E.g.: 29th Commando Regiment Royal Artillery, which is part of the Army, but is OPCON to the 3rd Commando Brigade, which consists of Gunners who have done a Commando bridging course so they can be posted to the unit.

while they used to teach antiquated tactics from Vietnam the war on terror has had a huge affect on our training that i feel leads to better soldiers than those of peacetime militaries.
>>
>>28404886
Yeah but they are like police special forces

America... cant even keep up with New Zealand.

Did joint training in New Zealand not to long ago and admitted New Zealand was better, because so small that their soldiers could perform every role.

Canada has an interesting history when it comes to military training. During the World Wars we were still a largely rural country. Everyone and their dog was armed and because of that nearly everyone was halfway to becoming a solid soldier even before training. Canadians often took shock troop roles and came to be absolutely feared by our enemies. I like to think this sort of culture continues in small, honourable pockets throughout this great country.
>>
>>28404971
it seems like the smaller the military the more they can spend on training. army bct feels like a crash course in how to war.
>>
>>28404971
Which is not necessarily a good thing.
Whilst great in a fictional setting of where you need your rank and file rifleman to suddenly conduct armored warfare or AT roles, mortars, etc. A single person can only realistically do so much.

>Arm chair time. (The autism increases.)

The idea of basic training is just that, basic.
It is to assimilate your civilian ass into the world of whatever type of branch you are in.
The real training, where you become a stellar (insert MOS here) or just the average dude, is with your unit.
It is far too costly in time and money to train everyone to fully fulfill their role in boot camp.

This is especially relevant to your sailors and airmen. Odds are, some mechanic on a mine sweeper isn't going to need to be able to do long-range precision shooting. This can apply to many jobs of course.

This is a great segue to your SF guys.
You open your program to applications, you send your average Joe through indoc, if he makes it out and survives the succeeding training , you have a BAMF.

tl;dr
>Having a one size fits all soldier is pointless as fuck because war doesn't work that way and most Armies (Marine Corps etc.) don't waste their time.

I suspect either Britain or Canada.

This is like asking what is the best road vehicle, in the world. Your answer is invariably be "it depends".

The British have the best trained Infantry and Special Forces. RM classed as SF in this scenario.

"one size fits all" military response--->

American Military response-->
>passenger grabs controls
>shitfuckwhatthefuck.flv
>crashes bird into plane flying alongside
>both go down
>over somalia
>scavengers pick planes apart
>all servicemembers die
FFW 30 years
>humanitarian mission in somalia
>i've seen that uniform before
>some old spook wearing what appears to be vietnam issue camos
>commander of the tribe
>largest hut
>old chopper stabiliser converted to makeshift a/c
>6 national geographic saggy tits w/ big coin lips sweeping the dirt of his dirt floor hut

All this could have been avoided had the U.S. Military cross trained it's members instead of going the everyone gets a trophy "specialist" route.

Really depends. I currently serve in the Swiss Armed Forces. Because of the profession I learned, I work in the technical field. I didn't have a lot of shooting training, not a single simulation battle or so. We aren't meant to fight at the front and would most definitely loose in a comparison with other countries 'standard' soldiers.

Our riflemen instead get a lot of battle and shooting training, and I think it's pretty solid. Can't say it for sure though.

It's also hard to tell which country has the soldiers that experienced the best training. Just because it takes longer doesn't mean it's better.

Which pockets? Also would you count newfoundland as they served in british regiments rather than colonial ones?

It's likely because everyone who is in United States infantry actually expects to fight, so it's safe to assume they are psychotic.

You have no idea what you're talking about.

There's a difference between "best" and "longest", but i'd argue that British Royal Marines accomplish both. The officers train with the men for the full 32 week basic training course, and then go on to a second comprehensive officer only 32 week course. Whilst an enlisted man has to complete the final 30 mile march at the end of his basic training in eight hours, an officer has only seven, and it's the same story for every qualification. They try to turn you in to the best soldier possible, and then push the man that's going to be leading you even harder.

The course looks pretty comprehensive.

Curious as to what people's reasoning is for saying Canada. What's so special about their training?
>>
>>28407165
Nothing. They're disarming themselves.
>>
People say countries like Canada and the UK because they are probably use to doing more with less while at the same time still being a "somewhat" relevant fighting force in all major conflicts.
If your fighting and your government doesn't fund you all that much, you better make up for it in training....2 cents
>>
canadians have actually quite adept infantry soldiers.. canadians try to be a jack of all trades type

Probably the Brit bongs, despite their small military, pound for pound it is amazingly strong

Self-praise is no praise but international disgrace.

>However that is because it includes training that in other branches is conducted after basic training.

No it doesn't, you have specializations long after you finish basic training for the Marines.
>>
>>28406250
I'd put Royal Marine officers as probably the most capable individual soldiers outside of special operations forces.

>>28404497
Great Britain

That's pretty based.

If you take some random infantryman then I would say Luxembourg.
>>
Russia. One Russian conscripts = 3 Amerilards who will cry once they actually get into contact with a proper military.
>>
>>28404497
Probably Denmark or Norway, if only counting basic training.

I've met UK officers who said that Danish soldiers in basic had better individual skills than their own.
