Currently a nogunz anon looking to buy a gun. This one has gotten my attention the most. Anyone have information and little factoids on how well it handles and shoots, price of ammo?
Fucking AMAZING gun. But ammo is hard to find, SGAmmo has a good deal on PPU.

Bad choice imo, ammo is hard to find and you will not appreciate it as much as cheap ak or ar ammo.
I am also new to guns ( I got my first three within the last 4 months) and I can def tell you that I shoot my mauser way less due to ammo cost / it being a harder recoiling gun. Milsurps are great, but I would recommend an SKS over this, and if you are going with an SKS put down 100 more and get an AR/AK

I like mine, usually just over 50 cents a round for match quality surplus, best /k/ recommend gun I bought into for the price, way better than an mosin nagant even if it costs 2-3x as much.
Has a bit more soul than a savage axis, and unless you pay out the but the get match sights or have it tapped for a scope, you would be limited to your current eyesight for how far you can see accurately.

I've heard the K11 and K31 aren't quite as accurate as the 1896/11 and the 1911, but I suppose that would depend more on how well you can handle an old long rifle compared to the carbines. The 7.5 isn't terribly rare but don't be surprised if your local shops don't carry it, and we seem to be at a hiatus where all the high quality swiss G11 is sold out and awaiting the next batch of surplus. Plenty of serbian made ammo for between 60-70 cents per round available though, shoots 1 MOA from a 1911 without a problem and is good for reloads. Comes down to personal choice I suppose, but I'd recommend getting the schmidt rubin first. K98's will be available forever.

In my experience, this is true. My 1896/11 shoots just a little bit better than any K31 I've shot, mainly due to the longer sight radius and very fine sights. Said sights start at 300m though, so it takes a little getting used to at 1-200m.
Handling-wise it's actually well balanced considering the almost comical overall length and couple pounds of additional weight. The 1896/11 and 1911 also have (in my opinion) a slightly smoother action.
The exaggeratedly hook shaped triggers on the long rifles are nicer, though the actual trigger is excellent in any Schmidt-Rubin or K31.

You can't even get a non-RC shooter K98 for less than 1k, or even 2k, right now. And even RCs with no markings peened are stupid now.
A real Mccoy k98 sniper is a 10-20k rifle, depending on if "muh ss" or not.

Ammo can be a bit of hassle, though commercially made ammo is available.
Swiss guy here.
Accurate as fuck, you can shoot on 300m without optics and hit everything. Has a nice feel to it and doesn't fuck around.
Ammo is expensive but available everywhere here.
Protip: get the one with the optic, rare but fucking awesome

Even when the K31 surplus runs out and they are with the k98 in that you can only acquire them through private sales, the k98 still will have the leg up in value because of their history.
Both are great rifles tho.

honestly it's not worth it as a first gun
the cartridge is great but very pricey, the gun you will get will be overpriced because there's not that many and will almost definitely be beat to hell, you're better off getting a used bolt gun around you

For 300 bucks? Maybe, maybe not.
Anyway the goal isn't always to find the "best" gun possible, just stuff you like for multiple possible reasons, history included.
If i have no alternative is the k11 decent? Or is it sub par to the k31?

It's a beautiful rifle, but if you're an inexperienced gun owner I'd recommend a less expensive rifle. (aka mosin) But, overall it's what I use for competitions.

The only good advice. 10/22s are sex. Not the most versatile gun but they're great for shooting, cheap to shoot and will give you experience that you badly need while giving you some room for being a retarded newfag
