Coyote hunting setup? How does /k/ does with these pests. I've been using a savage 93g in 22wmr for the past 3 years and I've dropped every single one hit (usually) I try to get head shots but heart shots parks great for this calibre too .The furthest I've done with it is 150m, that's my max distance. Also use a promos double cotton tail. Got an electronic rabbit wobbles for Christmas also. Used to just shoot a rabbit and use it as bait will probably continue doing this with the wobbler

Have no idea why it's side ways... Also potato camera on Samsung Galaxy s5 active, with a cracked lens

>coyote
>22wmr

Interesting. I just use my .308
>>
>>28395426
We use whatever.

223/556
30-06
243
416 Rigby

It's all good.
>>
>>28395495
>416 rigby

I thought .308 was on the excessive side, but this on a whole other plane.

It's a common round to use here in syrup land for coyotes, I just go on one side of the coulee with the wind in my face and call them in with the dead rabbit there and they would come in. 3 days ago I got 7 in one day. Also I use the small round for usually head shots as I said because I sell the pelts. Don't want too much damage but 12 gauge works damn fine especially with pic related. Use a mossman 500 with 18.5 inch barrel too
>>
>>28395426
>22 LR for coyote
Poor fuckers. I hope you shoot them in the head or heart.
>>
>>28395495
>416 Rigby
do you also use 50 bmg? how about 700 nitro express or 950 jdj?
>>
>>28395550
There is such thing as excessive when dealing with coyotes.

I'd use a 50bmg on coyotes if I had one.
>>
>>28395553

I'm still needing to pick up a .22 magnum rifle, so it's good to know I could use it for the occasional coyote.

Never got into the pelt thing, either. Didn't realize people actually wanted them.
>>
>>28395566
22 wmr isn't 22lr. also
>I try to get head shots but heart shots
he does.
>>
>>28395566
>implying I said 22lr
>implying a 22 magnum to the head with a 40 grain cci isn't enough
>>
>>28395575
see
>>28395584

I would if I had those calibers. One local uses a 45-110 on coyotes because he can.
>>
>>28395589
Oh man its what I do in the winter time. I shoot them but I want to get into trapping. If you want the pelt wait till winter because that's when the pelt is the best looking and thickest and way more money. I averaged 150 a pelt last year. Also killing wolves up here is what pays the most. Where I'm from the province pays you 500 per wolf for their bounty plus you get to keep the pelt which could get 300 on a good day
>>
>>28395599
>>28395595
>.22 wmr
whoops
I just use 5.56 anyway out of my CZ. Selling the pelts is a definite plus.
>>
>>28395617
>buy 20 mm canon
>watch coyotes explode
>>
>>28395628

I don't think I've ever seen a wolf where I live. With the coyotes, I'd just shoot and move their bodies into the woods.

And now, on the topic of .22 Magnum, I think I want a Savage Model 63M.

Sexy man-licker stock single-shot .22 mag.
>>
>>28395652
My dad uses a savage axis in 223 and like this thing it's a fuckin tack driver. Yesterday I was at my girlfriends father's land and put an old mini bic lighter on a fence post and while I walked away I shot at it from about 175m away and shot a hole right through it. Doesn't sound that surprising but this round isn't as hot as the. 17hmr but much better for hunting IMHO
>>
>>28395702
Nice rifle, I'm just not a fan of single shots unless it's for the teaching my 4 year old.
>>
>>28395426
Ive been using 7mm on coyotes but you cant really go wrong with 22wmr with a well placed shot
>>
>>28395731
>I'm just not a fan of single shots

I think it makes me a better hunter. I know that sounds queer, but it's true.
>>
>>28395742
Nope you can't. Shot a magpie yesterday and it blew the thing apart
>>
>>28395770
It is true. But for a bit more I got something I'm more comfortable with. I'm going to get an aluminum trigger guard with a bigger hole for gloves because it's cold as fuck here no surprise. And glass bed the stock
>>
>>28395832

Well, beyond that, I'm a sucker for old fudd rifles.
>>
>>28395857
Fair enough. I love wood everything on my guns all homo. Not a big plastic fantastic guy
>>
>>28395879

Same. It's a blessing and a curse.
>>
>>28395956
Blessing for /k/anadians because black assault rifles are frowned upon up here usually if you want to take it out hunting. But my uncle is ballsy or retarded because he uses his unregistered 22lr revolver for driving beside them and shooting them in the head
>>
>>28395628

Do you skin them yourself? I'm wanting to get into this but don't trust myself not to ruin the pelt.
>>
>>28396000
>ballsy or retarded

A little bit of both when it comes to Redneckanadians.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-glHAzXi_M
>>
>>28396034
Na I pay my uncle to do them until I have enough practice to do so myself. Soon though I can almost as well as him
>>
>>28395770

You're right, you are queer.
>>
>>28396038
That video was so popular up here, now everyone around my age (21) says going out for a rip and shit like that
>>
>>28396064
how are you going to practice by continuing to pay your uncle to skin them for you. its easy as fuck.
>>
>>28396135
Because I want top dollar for the thickest coats, on the small pups or when I shoot them in the spring that's when I practice.
>>
>>28396135
Also he only charges 5 syrup dollars per coyote.
>>
>>28396135

Fuck off shit head
>>
>>28395426
Hey OP, what's your setup like?

How much are you getting for pelts?

Any good skinning resources?

I've been trying to get into coyote hunting for a hobby and a way to make some money on the side.
>>
>>28396085

I just want you to know that New Jersey rednecks (pineys) invented 'out for a rip' and 'fuckin right'.

Sorry to break it to you.
>>
>>28396214
Oh I'm well aware
>>
>>28396243

I will give you one thing, though.. poutine is way better than disco fries. Cheese curds are the best.

75 Winchester coyote specific 12ga shotgun shells. About 80 various 22 magnum rounds. Gloves is a must. Stick with head shots. As I said last year I got 150 per pelt but it changes and I won't know till February when the sale is. I go on the Indian reserve because we have lots of land and permission from all the farmers to kill them. Also I get paid per day I'm out there and get free ammo so it's pretty good. Rich ass farmers and they pay good, you pick up on everything
>>
>>28396276

Another good thread ruined by retard babble by a tripfuck.

I'm shocked.
>>
>>28396338

What.. we were just talking about Canada, our friendly neighbors to the north.

Commit suicide, you rude dick.
>>
>>28396191
>skinning resources
Im confused with what you mean
>>
>>28396308
Also bring garbage bags to stick them in. Bring a club to whack them over the head after you shoot them to knock them out while they bleed out, again want as less holes as you can for a nice thick coat that rich fucks love to wear
>>
>>28396380
As in, "How do I skin a coyote".
>>
OP here, I'm not>>28396338
>>
>>28396440

I know you aren't. Canadians aren't rude assholes... mostly.

The meth heads get a little rowdy.
>>
>>28396439
Just YouTube that shit brah. It's all rule of thumb shit
>>
>>28395426
I don't actively hunt coyotes, but I've killed two on my property. Dropped them both immediately with my AR. Perfect caliber and platform to kill anything that size. Wouldn't use anything smaller though.
>>
>>28396690
You'd be surprised. I actually wouldn't use any thing smaller then 22wmr
>>
>>28395426

Don't you have a topic on /out/
