AK guy here. I used to think the same thing. When it comes to being able to reach past 200yds effectively, it really depends on the rifle. The stars must align properly when the rifle was made, and you have to be a decently skilled shooter.

5.45x39mm can do it easier than 7.62x39 for sure. I did not buy my AK because it can reach a long distance. Performance-wise, I bought it because what it does inside of 200yds, it does fucking great.

Dunno, anon. I personally don't care much for guns that aren't mil-style, so it could be that quite a few /k/ommandoes are like me. Your average hunter bolt-action might get you some tasty meats, but aside from that I think they're boring.

These threads pop up quite a bit, although they don't seem to be as heavily trafficked as the AK and AR generals.

realistically any simi auto .308. Here in the US a AR10.

But really if my country was getting invaded I would I would not be using a long rang rifle. I would just be using a AK/AR-15.
