No, probably not with them being spread across taiwan, the phillipines, korea, vietnam, burma and the pacific islands, but had they not spread that far they might have. China was, and still is, mostly poor, stupid and illiterate serfs

The Japanese pretty much got stuck in China by 1939, with no further gains until Operation Ichi-Go in 1944, which was a last ditch offensive and faced only disorganized resistance due to commies and nationalists already holding forces back to whack each other in anticipation to the continuation of the civil war.
