I'm undecided between a Mosin and a K31.

What does /k/ recommend?
>>
>>28346357
Do you like sure fire acuracy or rugged durability?
>>
>>28346357
If you can find ammo locally, K31

If you can't find ammo locally, Mosin; because the ammo is fucking everywhere.

This is coming from an Illinois resident though, where our gun laws are shitty. (Can't order ammo without a foid on file).
>>
>>28346357
I like and own both but there's literally no reason to get a mosin until the price of 54r goes back down. The price of 7.5 Swiss is still about double 54r. I recommend an 8mm Mauser if you must have a milsurp rifle.
>>
>>28346375
The K31 is both of those things anon.
>>
>>28346403
You can have straight pull or durability. Pick one
>>
>>28346357
you posted pictures of the K31 only
I think you answered your own question

>implying the bolt will break before you do

Anyways the real question for OP is whether he wants to pay more for a quality shooter with now drying up surplus or an M39 with quite a few non surplus ammunition options that are still pretty cheap.
>>
>>28346357
7.5x55 swiss has dried up

if you have a ~400 dollarydoo budget and aren't dead set on milsurp, then you should look at savage bolt guns

you missed the nugget boat when century ran out of Finn M39s.

Here is my humble collection and my advice to you:

-Decide do you want to have something fun to shoot? Then the K31.

-Do you want something with affordable ammo that is somewhat available? Then Mosin.

-Do you want something that has an interesting historical talking point? Well....both do that.

-Do you want something you don't need to clean immediately after shooting? K31.

-Do you want to use your rifle as a pole vault/javelin? Mosin.

Like I said I own both and I love both but I ended up getting my AR because of the faults with both (lack of ammo or corrosivness of the ammo that is readily available).

Not too late anon. It's Classic with the M39s, and they still have em
>>
>>28346537
Actually commercial ammo for the mosin is almost as cheap as surplus is right now. If cleaning is a problem, there's always that option.

OP here.

Fuck it. I will get both.

My friend is selling one of those Mosins with a long barrel for $100, but the barrel is pitted. Is this a problem?

This.

Get all the milsyrupy goodness, OP.
>>
>>28346592
Nah, as long as it shoots well enough that's an okay price for a beater. My M39 is pretty pitted but still shoots nice enough.

>mosin
tried and true
used and proven in combat
glorious russki engineering
common bullets
>k31
never been used or proven in combat
rare bullets
not glorious russki engineering
could be a piece of crap with unforeseeable issues due to the fact it has never been tested in combat
>>
Can a k31 do this?

It's not that the commercial ammunition has dropped in price, surplus has doubled in price in the last 6 months
>>
>>28346663
>mixmatched arsenal turds that were purely maintained by the conscripts wielding them
>not as good as a rifle that is all original from the Swiss manufacturers used for decades in training
I wish they didn't get the butt so ruined though. Original walnuts with little butt wear are beautiful.

Also 7.5 Swiss is .308 so it's a good choice for someone who likes reloading. Privi is nice enough to have boxer primers, and surplus cases aren't that hard to convert or use berdans if you can get some.
>>
>>28346717
I meant that, but I said it retardedly. My bad.

>>28346599
You. I like you.

Also hows the Lee and your ak?
>>
>>28346583
This

Neither. Buy something else.
