For all the autism on these boards, I know there are some experienced people. Is the Kabar law enforcement tdi any good at all? I had one a couple years ago and lost it, thinking of buying another one,
They're fine, but why not just buy a normal folder
Most people will never use a TDI for actual self defense. Using a knife for self defense is just a meme, you are better off just not pulling out a knife at all

What's a good folder in your opinion? I've already got a couple folders and was looking for something different.
I think the Ankle and the Large look pretty nice but the damn sheath is huge compared to the knife.
And it might be a little stupid but I think I'd enjoy a TDI folder if it had two open positions like this goofy push knife. The angled position for defense and a straight position for utility.
>>28341340
Shit design, never understood why it attracts anyone to it.
What do you want in a knife, OP?
>>28341555
No, that's dumb. A fighting knife should never be used for utility, its edge needs to be kept pristine. If you want to use a folder for that, it needs a blade of at least 4" and a strong fuckin lock.
>>28341654
Something that is 2.5 inches or less yet possibly useful for defense even if it is a meme.
>>28341667
I've got some very good utility knives. I'm just looking for the best defense knife I can get for 2.5 inches which is all I can carry in the commie state in which I live.
I have one and carried it daily before I got my ccw permit. It's a quality piece and seems like it serves it's intended purpose. It is really bad as being a utility knife though.
>>28341739
Yah, I don't need it to serve as a utility knife.
tryina get an esee fixed blade with sheath pretty soon here for edc with muh glock19

get a cold steel mini ak-47, best folder lock, you can wave it open and it's cts-xhp steel for <$90
i have the full size version, one of my favorite folders

Weapons retention?
Get knocked on your ass and someone is on top of you before you can get up?
Strong arm pinned under you or behind you?
I'm not sure about the normal TDI but I have the Hellfire.
I'm not sure why I didn't go for the Wharncliffe bladed one, that one seems a hell of a lot easier to sharpen.
Nevertheless, it didn't even come sharp enough to cut cleanly through paper. But it's tough as shit, and handled a lot of accidental abuse splendidly.
If you haven't already, look into the bench made SOCP knife. Similar concept, but with the added advantage of actually letting you use the firearm you should be carrying as a primary weapon.
>>28342457
>Similar concept
Except it has an entirely different concept.
The TDI is meant to be worn to be drawn with your weak hand for weapons retention when someone is holding onto your weapon/dominant arm.
No reason not to have both in my opinion, both are lightweight and easy to conceal.

>Using a knife for self defense is just a meme
Nigger what do you think "meme" means?
I have one. Love the idea but never found a comfortable and practical way to wear it
>>28343339
dang, I was hoping the curved handle would let it carry well
>i want a self defence knife
not going for the knife that pierced a thousand jugulars

>Sentry take-down
Two very different things with very different situations.
>>28343827
The FB-S was designed as a fighting knife, why would it not be a good self defence knife?
>>28343860
Size and concealability, I'd rather have a folding knife that fits in my pocket. Plus, some places are nazis about long fixed blades.

Everything's a meme, going to the bathroom is a meme, driving a car is a meme. Everything is a meme...

If you have enough freedom in your hands to draw and unfold a folder you have enough to draw a reasonable fixed blade.
Unless you're a fatty fat and have no mobility, in which case no amount of weaponry can make up for your ill prepared body.
>>28343896
>size and concealability
>freedom of hand
These things are not the same, anon.
>>28343870
>Size and concealability
This, also the sheath is badly designed for concealed carry, long blade makes it hard to draw from a concealed position.
A 3-5 inch fixed blade is easier to carry, conceal and will be much easier to draw from concealment.
I do not however agree on folding knife for defensive use, too much to go wrong with deployment.
