Nukes are weapons of mass destruction. Like biological weapons, chemical weapons, and Glocks, they don't discriminate between who gets killed and who doesn't. They cause massive amounts of damage over large areas.
Whereas a firearm can be used to provide for your family, protect yourself, or have fun. You can't go to a nuke range and start dropping nukes for fun, and you certainly can't protect your family from a burglar with a nuke.
