Good morning /k/, hope you all had a wonderfull christmas.
I have a small question and I haven't seen any threads about the subject.
So, I have around a thousand syropbux to spend on my first rifle. If you wanted a quality product, what would you buy? And is there a significant difference in perfomance with the .17, or should I stick with the .22?
And I don't feel the need to have the scope included, I can always purchase one later, when I've mastered sight shooting with it.
And for the canadian, where do you purchase your funs? Cabelas.ca et sail.ca have a poor range of choice, in my opinion.

Use a ballistic calculator to compare different cartridges.
I like
http://gundata.org/ballistic-calculator/
Then compare price per round
Select the cartridge that best fits your need.
For $1000
You could buy a 10/22
Install drop in, match grade barrel and trigger assemble.
Sell old parts on line.
Marlin 60, Marlin 795, or Ruger 10/22
.17 HMR is shit. 22 Is cheaper and more common.
>>28323764
How is .17 hmr shit? It's better then the .22 in everyway faggot.
>>28323827
I can load 223 for close to price of 17hmr. I've got a 17 but since also purchasing the 223 it hasn't seen a lot of use.

Go to Canadian gun nuts and browse the dealers at the top.

>spending 1000$ on a .22
its like you don't even operate
And what about savage? Are they reliable/accurate? Because they have some beautiful models.
>>28323898
except 1000 syrupbux is a little over 700 freedombux
the exchange rate is screwing us family to be honest
>>28323899
Savage bolt actions are amazing.
Stay away from their semi autos
>>28323947
Sincerly, I am not very interested in semi, I would prefer a bolt action. I might, in a near future buy a 10/22 for the customization, but not right now.
So, for the savage, any model you could recommend? I have eared about the axis, but they are made of synthetic material, and I don't know if I like it.
CZ 452 or 455.
>>28324011
mark II
>>28324014
or even better than those? the CZ453.
>>28324077
here is one in .17 hmr
>>28324063
I do like my mark II even with iron sights plinking cans at 100+ yards is easy as fuck.

drop in a https://www.diproductsinc.com/Detail.aspx?PROD=912945&CAT=3600
if you want to get fancy
still should be under your budget I think
great general purpose rifle, my only .22 that's more accurate is an anshutz 64 MPR with a nightforce 6-20x56, but that's not really fair since it's more then twice the price

I have this rifle in stainless and it is a tackdriver. Doesn't need shit but an optic. Trigger is great, barrel is great, everything works, etc. I have a slight issue with feeding sometimes when I start racking the bolt too fast, but other than that I've never owned a better rimfire.
I own a couple of .22s and won't even use them anymore. The .17 HMR is hands down the better of the two.
If you're going to pay for a .17hmr you might as well just buy an SKS. 7.62x39mm Corrosives can be as cheap as 20 cents each in syrupland.
get a .22 mag or .223 rem if you can
.22lr drifts like a fucking sailboat in any wind
.22 mag is a bit punchier, .223 is better if you plan on doing any hunting with it.
Well, thank you all for the recommendation. I have made my choice, and it will be a beautiful cz 455 canadian, and I can still buy a .17 hmr barrel and change it.
Now, the fun and an extra 10 rounds mag is about 620 including taxes and shipping. So I have some left for a scope. Any recommendation? Nothing to fancy, I favor quality over flashy.

>>28325520

Only 10bux for shipping across the canada
>>28325553
Do they charge any kind of extra fee for that? ive only ever bought guns off shelves.
>>28325658
what part of canuckistan are you in? almost any dealer will be able to order one for you. it will be a little more than online but at least you can hold it in your hands before paying.
