I'm going to buy my first gun soon (parents finally going to let me) on my 21st birthday, So far I like the fnx 45 (more ammo than the 1911 and same bullet) but I want to know how it handles in CC

Also I got big hands so the size isn't a problem unless it fucks up cc

It's bricky as fuck to CC. I carry it every so often, but for how heavy it is, how much it prints and it bring a little uncomfortable to sit unless you shoulder carry, I'd go with something smaller if it's for CC. My fnx 45 is my favorite hand gun, but I'll pick one of my compacts or sub compacts to carry over it.

For OC it's a great gun, 15 rounds of 45 is awesome, and they shoot great and had a very manageable recoil.

I walked around downtown seattle all day with it concealed. The biggest thing is a quality holster that supports the weight of it. Like others said, it's heavy.

But honestly if you're looking for something to primarily CC, go with a compact/sub compact like the Glock 30SF or other smaller frame guns in .45
>>
>>28323541
Well illinios doesn't have OC, and I'm looking for a good first gun period, just want something that can handle cc and not kill myself when I draw

I own one, it's a great shooter, I've never had it malfunction. If you want a good DA/SA gun that you can learn to shoot handguns with, it's probably a good choice. If you want a concealed carry piece, this gun is just plain too big.

Here it is compared to my Beretta Nano, which is a single stack 9mm. The FNX-45 is a duty gun. It was never intended to be concealed, and because of that, it gets away with having a huge grip on it. If you try to carry this thing concealed, you're gonna need to wear a coat over it year round or something.

>>
>>28323455

If you have to have a DA/SA to CC get a Sig 220. If this is your first gun why would you want to go with 45 ACP to CC with? Have you ever shot a 45 in compact/sub-compact sizes? How were your groupings?

You need to walk before you run; get a Glock 19/26 or Springfield 3.3 in 9; both are striker fire and good to learn on. That's what you need to do first and foremost.

Posting a bulky double stack 45 ACP to EDCC with... what in the actual fuck.

>I want to know how it handles in CC

It's a doublestack .45 with a full-size frame, this doesn't seem like the kind of question you'd need to crowd source.

Lots of people CC full-size guns, but IMO a compact is the largest that can reasonably be CC'd with minimal effort in any weather. Go for it of you want, but get a good holster or carrying will just be a pain in the ass.
>>
>>28323876

Maybe he wants to CC a weapon that doesn't leave a massive fucking print you Jame's Yeager cock sucking cunt. You honestly fucking think that a double stack 45 is an easy CC for EDC? Please, show us all you nigger.
>>
>>28323876
Not the poster you're responding to. As far as I can tell it actually recoils on par with a full size 9mm. I'd say it's am okay gun to learn to shoot on, but ammo is a bit more expensive. It's just fairly bulky and not well suited to concealed carry. On top of that .45 isn't really any more effective at dropping people than some proper 9x19 JHP loads, so if you can only have one handgun, or you're looking at getting your first, then 9mm is simply the better choice with its lower prices, and wide variety of defensive loading.

I think if we were concerned OP was too limp wristed to handle a full size .45 with longer lockup time than a Glock 19, there would probably be a lot of suggestions of Ruger Mk III's, Browning Buckmarks, amd H&R .22 revolvers.
>>

it's massive, I wouldn't think about it for CC. I hate FN triggers but you can't argue with 15 rounds of MUH 45. Rent it and see how you shoot with it first, I can't shoot FNX triggers worth a damn because it has such a long take up.

>>28324111
Or op could carry a briefcase and always hold it in front of the brick shaped gun bulge in his pants. That would conceal it nicely.

i know it's already been said, but the fnx is shit for cc.
think of it as a gun designed to be used by the military, it doesn't hide its size at all since it doesn't need to.
>>
>>28323455 how big are you, I'm 5'9" and 200lbs and I CC my p-09 just fine. the grip is longer than the fnx, so you might be OK, try it on and look in a mirror. A little bump isn't bad but if the thing is bulging, no

Sad FNP45Tfag here again. I just found out that my Dawson Precision extensions caused my ejector to get bent upwards. Apparently all my other extensions except the +4 DP ones prevent magazine over insertion. So note to all you FNP/X45fags, dont use DP Para P14 extensions. God, now I have $200 worth of extensions that break my gun, and I need to find a way to fix this over insertion problem.

>>28324299
I havent put tons of rounds through it, so I'm not sure what the long term effects will be. The barrel is from EFK. The guide rod/triple recoil spring is from DPM Systems in Greece. I also upgraded the magazine springs to Wolff custom cut to length springs before hand because of the extensions.

So playing with it some more, it looks like that only thing I can do is remove some material from the rear left feed lip to fix this.

>>28324299
I should have included that DPM Systems also makes guide rods/triple recoil springs for lots of other guns, and they will custom make them for whatever cartridge you want.

>>28323455
Worst fucking idea, ever. The only people who can safely CC a full-sized pistols are over 6'4" or Shaq-sized. The pictures you see of people standing completely still for a picture of their CCW disappearing? Yeah, that's the only time it fucking disappears.

Get a firearm made for CCW. The smaller of a person you are, the smaller gun you want to carry to avoid printing unless you wear clothing that covers your CCW side. I carry a subcompact, but for summer time I need to get something even smaller so I can enjoy summer clothes and not overshirts and shit just to conceal better
>>
>>28323455
Don't get the tac version, get the regular fnx .45.
You can CC if you're a big guy but those raised sights will snag and you don't really need the threaded barrel while CC. I have CC mine, it's not easy, I usually wear a longer shirt when carrying it in a cross breed holster.

Nigger what? I'm 5'10 and small of frame and CC a full-sized 1911 every day. Just because OP can't mexican carry it (like I assume you do if you can only CC tiny pistols), doesn't mean he can't carry a big gun
>>
>>28323455
>parents let me
>parents let
>parents
I'll be nice and assume you are a college kid living at home because it's cheap.

Anyway, a fullsize for CC is stupid. The barrel length isn't the issue, it's the grip. The length of the grip will make it easier for you to "print", that is when your gun shows through your clothing. Unless you are a fat ass, you can't really CC a fullsize without wearing a jacket or sweater. Not such a big issue in winter but it does matter for summer. Take me for example. I'm tall and thin (6' 3" at 180lbs). I can carry my XDs 9mm at the 3 o'clock with any t-shirt and long as I am using the flush magazine I won't have any issues. However that means I'musing the little 7 round mag. So I have two extended magazines that I carry when it's winter. But now it prints like a motherfucker unless I am wearing my coat because the grip is an extra inch longer.

But FNX is a pretty nice gun. I kinda want one.
