Does the F-15 have any real advantage over the F-16 besides acceleration?
>pic unrelated

>much bigger wingspan so better mobility
>higher payload
>Better range
I think it has better air to air combat capabilities too. Don't quote me on that but I'd be surprised if the radar and avionics overall aren't better for air-to-air
The f-15 is a brilliant interceptor really.
Not knocking the f-16 but that's not what it's meant for these days.
The F-15 is basically better in every way compared to the F-16.
The F-15 is faster, can climb faster, carry more ordnance and missiles, supposedly more maneuverable and better range on a clean setup.
The major reason the USAF has more F-16 is that the F-16 is cheaper and more multirole.
The F-15 is an air superiority fighter made for flying fast and taking out Russian fighters in a dogfighting scenario.
The F-16 was made to be cheap like the A-4 skyhawk, to do everything and to be the signature export plane for the US.

Bigger payload, longer range, higher top speed, better avionics.

But as far as numbers go, the two planes have the same rate of climb 254 m/s.
The F-16 turns better to my knowledge but the F-15 completely outdoes it in the energy fight (two engines go figure).
>>28308555
direct wingspan size doesn't directly affect mobility.
>>28308494
How does the F15 compare to the F22?
>>28308694
in short no, in long
rate of climb on clean setup is irrelevant
rate of climb with same loadoat would be relevant and f-15 would win this hands down
>>28308797
Tell that to the f35
At least in the USAF F-15Cs have been upgraded with AESA radar, while F-16s are stuck with pulse doppler.
The F-16 is great for short-range dogfights, but will is at a significant disadvantage in BVR combat.
The F-16 does have the advantage of being capable of both air to air and air to ground engagements, while the F-15C is limited to air to air combat.
>>28308917
Whoops, I think those are F-15E's.
>>28308494
Which would you rather be in when you lose an engine?
What does /K/ think to be the best overall aircraft in the world at this moment. Price should not matter more than specs.
>>28310096
Does it matter? Either way you have to eject.
>mfw people prefer the F16

>>28310191
F-15's are actually pretty docile single engine.
>>28308917
the F-15E's are actually getting the AESA too. they're rolling out across the fleet.
F-15 looks cooler
I saw the block 60 f-16 up close
Thing was frickin tiny with an oversized canopy. Cockpit looked roomy enough.
>>28308694
rate of climb is dependent on altitude and initial speed, a pure rate of climb value is meaningless. Engine output at altitudes and drag coefficients are a better measure.
>>28311571
the F-15 uses the same P&W F100 engines that the F-16 does. i don't think the F-16 has a variable inlet ramp which would mean it's not quite as good over alll flight regimes

>Does it matter? Either way you have to eject.
No!

Hey buddy....you still alive?

>swiggity swooty, I'm comin' for that booty

Go dance with an angel, buddy.

Somebody post that guy who flew his f15 with 1 wing... Theres a youtube video for it somewhere.
>f15 body is big enough that at near max acceleration it manages to suspend itself and achieve lift
>some israeli pilot suvived a midair collision ,explosion, and losing a wing, and landed it.
>>28308555
The F-15 has a 105.5:0 kill ratio, it's the best fighter in service.
>>28308809
The F-22 is a direct replacement for the F-15C. Faster, turns harder, and significantly harder to detect.
>>28308900
The F-35 is a high AoA lifting body with plenty of wing on it.

Based f15 also can accelrate vertically cuz of dat thrust to weight ratio and is the only aircraft to have shot down a satellite.
What can an f16 do?
>>28311546
The F-16 is literally an F-15 engine with wings and cockpit.
>>28310213
>>28315519
not to mention sensor integration. it's nice not to have the Link 16, RWR, A/A radar, etc. all on one display instead of having what feels like 5-6 relevant and important displays on my four MPD/MPCDs

*it's nice to have
