Hey /k./

I'm going to be getting my first handgun soon and am needing advice.

I need a handgun for home defense and am not interested in cc'ing.

My other option besides the Walther PPX is a Smith and Wesson M&P 9 and a Glock 17. The reason I'm putting the Walther first is because of the substantial price difference from the other two.

Also wondering which handguns you like shooting/are good for home defense.

I bought one because it was so cheap. Its a nice gun with a good trigger. I didn't shoot very well with it at first because I'm used to a short crisp trigger and the ppx has a long smooth light pull. Once I focused and got used to it, it shot great. No problems.

How is cleaning it and the MIM barrel part?
I've heard getting to the internals can be hard to get to and clean

It's probably the best in it's price range but you might do well to look at police trade-in glocks if only for the aftermarket support and availability of parts and mags.

Get a shotgun, handguns are shit for actually stopping someone. Also

Huh, I guess all the people cops, criminals, and CCW holders kill didn't get the memo.
>>
>>28298413
Get a P99 in .45 instead; it's more interesting and better looking.

You mean 1 out of every 10 people who gets shot with a handgun? People carry handguns because they can't carry a long gun, cops keep long guns in their car for a reason and people use long guns for home defense for a reason.
>>
>>28299262
I personally prefer the P99s grip and mag release
Also the AS stuff gets points for being unique, even though a normal safety honestly makes more sense.

Not familiar with it, but hope it shoots better than it looks. Looks too much like Hi-Point.

Takedown is easy as hell and I don't remember it being particularly difficult to clean.

Goddamn, Im not one to complain about looks with guns but they really need to have somebody put a little effort into aesthetics
every modern gun walther makes save for the p99 looks like somebody took a hi point, stuck it in a microwave and morphed it slightly
>>
>>28300812
Lel I have to agree.

>>28298413
Out of those options, I like Glock the best. They are all pretty much the same though for all things that matter. I like Glocks because they are more widely used in combat. UK, Norway, Sweden, Finland, US Special Forces and law enforcement worldwide. If you don't care then... just make a decision based off something unimportant like looks or something. Just my 2 cents. They are all the same really in the end. They are all reliable and will all kill bad guys.
>>
>>28298413
Love walther, but they went retard on that fucking grip. I could own that gun based solely on that goddamned grip. WTF Carl?
>>
>>28298413
Fuck the PPX, actually handle the M&P 9 and the Glock 17 and see which feels better in your hand. Also, as said earlier in the thread, long guns are better than handguns for home defense.

>>28300954
It sure looks ugly at first but it sure is comfy to hold. The looks grow on you after a while.

Walther has been fucking retarded lately. They discontinue the PPQ M1 for no reason, then bring it back two years later after people complained. They released the pk380 which nobody asked for. They made the PPX as ugly as humanly possible. And they still haven't listened to popular demand and put the PPQ trigger mechanism in the PPS.
>>
>>28300812
The pps looks nice though.
>>
>>28301185
tfw cannot buy PPQ 5" slide and barrel separately to put on PPQ M1 frame

goddamn, can't hate you trying.

The paddle actually feels so intuitive somehow, I really like it

No you don't. You'd be better armed with an AR-15 and some home defense ammunition.
>>
>>28301369

It feels that way because it is more intuitive you dumb nigger.

>>

Probably, but only if no armor or barrier was in the way. Can't imagine it's very effective, anyway.

This is your guy, OP. You can fire it from anywhere in the house. Even paint it to match the decor.

It would be cool if the person from that image did a side by side ballistic gelatin test. He can clearly get very reliable keyholes.

I think bullets may under penetrate. It would be important to test a variety of calibers. Varied factors like bullet weight, and velocity would need to be tested. It could be an interesting study.

You can glue a decorative china plate to the front, since it already comes with a stand. That way it'll fit right in sitting on a cabinet or table or something, and no one will be the wiser.
