Do helo pilots get any respect?
From my understanding they are pretty much glorified bus drivers. Yeah they gt the Rangers or whomever into place but then they just peace out, don't actually do any of the fighting.
Am I missing something?

Until you need food, water, air support...practically anything quickly on a modern battlefield.
Since your probably rather young, image a round of Call of Duty. Doesn't matter which.
You run out of ammo. Where do you get more? A truck? Wait a couple days. If you need ammo, or any thing, RIGHT FUCKING NOW, its gonnna be sent in by helicopter. Logistics is king.

I keep forgetting that it's winter break.
It's funny because I understand how easy it is for helicopters to crash just doing civilian work. And I've always admired the men with the massive balls required to fly one into combat. Can someone tell me what happens to a black hawk when somebody magdumps into the tail rotar? Can it keep flying? Because I'm under the impression it can't.

In the Mogadishu battle (see the book/film "Blackhawk Down") one blackhawk took an RPG to the tail rotor and still managed to make it back to base. Two other blackhawks were shot down. Luck of the draw.
