We all laugh at the PAK-FA, because it's 12 production planes

We all laugh at the T-14, because China has better tanks

What about the Admiral Gorshkov? What to say if we want to ridicule it?

Here is video from its trials.

Honestly looks brety gud

Specs are brety gud too

Russia's newer ships and subs are pretty good all around, even if the production rates are a little too small

Kasatonov only needs its propulsion system, which unfortunately is being built in Ukraine, now they'll make it domestically but probably will be on 2018 or more, The 2nd and 3rd ship in line will have Chinese.

Prochips: Gorshkov uses Kasatonov's engines because Gorshkov's engine got damaged before it left port, so they exchanged engines but as the engine was sent back, Crimea happened.
>>
>>28282384
>so they exchanged engines but as the engine was sent back
What part of the engine? The generator and reduction gear was built in Ukraine, the turbine and control systems are built in Russia.
>>
>>28282455

Apparently Saturn is rebuilding the damaged engine, the commissioning is scheduled for 2016. So that means late 2017.

Holy shit, why are the Chicoms shilling so hard recently?

That said the Gorshkov seems like a decent frigate, production withstanding overall a fine platform.

Why is no one mentioning the gun that is too far upfront? It looks stupid.

Why is no one mentioning how the gun fires very slowly? It is only 130mm, western 130mm fires 60rpm or more. Idiots can't into guns.

Why is no one mentioning that the system looks like 80's tech?

Also that CIWS, it looks dumb really.
>>
>>28282884
This, I'll add my own points

Why is it all grey?

That bridge looks ugly

Why does it need a pointed nose?

Why is there a hole in the side? What a shitty design
>>
>>28282884
>Why is no one mentioning how the gun fires very slowly?
The USN 127mm is only 20rpm, the British 4.5 inch is 25.
The new Russian 130mm is 45rpm max.
>>

Its MTU engines for the first 5 Buyan-Ms, the last would have Chinese ones, or maybe they will have spare capacity for the Karakurt's engines and end up using Russian engines in the end. Dunno, its up in the air, Buyan-Ms are pretty much el cheapo rocket boats- fck only a Pantsir and EW suites to protect itself is disgusting.
>>28282265
>We all laugh at the PAK-FA, because it's 12 production planes
laugh all you want, but its the most sensible thing to do instead of rushing things wait for the plane to show its faults in the LRIP model while the relevant tech for the next line of serials mature and refine. look at the Typhoon first tranche mess for example of what happens when you throw caution in the wind.
>We all laugh at the T-14, because China has better tanks
their best tanks are T-90A tier at best. The clean sheet design of the T-14 is basically what the Russians have arrived at when they exhausted all practical means of bettering the storied T-64/72 line.
>>
>>28283192
Admiral Gorshkov has more firepower then the latest Arleigh Burke class destroyer.

eg. the Type 26 has..
- more missiles (anti ship and anti air)
- better endurance/range (nearly twice the gorshkov)
- lower crew requirement (nearly half the gorshkov)
- can carry two helicopters vs the gorshkov's one...
>>
>>28283290
>instead of rushing things wait for the plane to show its faults in the LRIP model

Except that's the entire point of LRIP .You find issues that can only be discovered when you have more airframes operating rather than a handful of prototypes. The first iteration of pretty much any fighter plane is vastly different from the final product.

no. you only need a squadron or two at best then you abuse the hell out of those planes to accelerate the development and detection of faults.

>no. you only need a squadron or two at best then you abuse the hell out of those planes to accelerate the development and detection of faults.

This would theoretically work if they had their actual engines installed.

LRIP also helps make the transition from prototype to full rate production much easier and efficient, which is pretty important when you're expecting to build over 2,000 planes.

So the missile that was launched is hot launched from UKSK, it seems to have lateral thrusters but it doesn't look like Oniks, So it's Kalibr but with thrusters?

At first I thought it was Redut AA but Redut is Cold launched and 9M96 has black smoke lateral thrusters this one does not and is hot launched so it is not Redut but UKSK.

Chinese ship engines are actually pretty good.

Chink ships get towed far less back to port than Russian ones kek.

And their production rate of new warships means that their engines have accumulated far more operational hours than Russian ones, making them much more mature and proven.

40+ 054A and 056 Frigates all operating their licence produced and modified MTU engines.

Admiral Gorshkov is relatively cheap, isn't it? But missile boats are cheaper.

I've got a hard on for small navy ships that are decked out with tons of weapons. The old WW2 PT boats were literally carrying and delivering the punch of cruisers in a tiny package. Efficiency.

I wonder where they're getting all these rounds per minute numbers. Here's a USN destroyer going at it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QpXjshw_eT8
Clearly in the 20-25 rounds per minute range.

Here's an AK-176 right at about 30 rounds per minute. Wiki claims 120 rounds per minute, which would be 4 times as fast as the firing in this vid, or one round per half second. Not sure I buy that. At all. Shit, the AK-130 is dual mount and only gets 70 rounds per minute max.

Or maybe the Turks were very justifiably concerned over the Russian deeply ingrained habit of taking an inch, then taking another, then taking a mile, until they've got constant overflights directly. The only way to deal with Russian fuckery like that is to draw a line, repeatedly warn them and follow through on your warnings.
