Hello /k/ommandos. I'm thinking about building an HK91.
I've found, what seems to be, a really well priced parts kit:
http://www.hkparts.net/shop/pc/G3-91-PTR-Parts-Kit-126p827.htm#.UvzvofldV_Y
Is the only part I would need outside of this a receiver? I found one for, what seems priced really high: http://brethrenarms.com/product/ptr-91-stripped-receiver/
Is there anything missing from this build? Would I need anything for 922r? Is there a better place to buy a receiver?
Any answers would really help.
AR-15

I'm looking for something in .308, and I already have an AR-15. Not really interested in an AR-10 either.
The HK91 looks amazing to me. I've always wanted one.

>Would I need anything for 922r
Literally no one gives a fucking about 922r
You would be beater off in all ways to just pay a PTR
You're going to need a semi-auto trigger group and receiver. Then you're going to have to do quite a bit of welding.
how mechanically inclined are you?
how much do you want to spend on tools?
>>28281788
nice dubs, and yea get a ptr with paddle mag release
>>28281789
>>28281788
Fuck. I've been spoiled by capitalist
plastic American rifle.
>>28281804
How much does a PTR with the paddle release go for? I'd most likely buy one and switch out the furniture some surplus from HK parts then.
>>28281814
eh, about a grand?
there was a lot of hype in a /brg/ thread about it being a new standard feature for 2016 iirc

Yes. I was worried about it being an expensive and a half.
I'd be able to live with a button release to be honest. I just wish I could fine them for under 800.
I might just have to buy it.

Buy yourself an actual HK91, you can still find them hovering around $1,500. The price sounds intimidating, but pre-ban guns will always beat out the clones like the PTR. The HK91 was actually built and imported by Heckler & Koch and will last a lifetime.
>>28282229
The PTR will last a lifetime too, and where the fuck are you finding HK91's in good shape for $1500?
HK 91 -----> Collecting
PTR 91 ----> Killing Stuff
C308 ----->Blowing your face off

Gun Broker.
>>28282311
Find one listing, just one.
>>28282321
I can't, but that doesn't mean i'm wrong.
>>28282346
You are wrong. HK91's have been chilling at around $3500-$4200 for several years, depending on model and year/accessories included.
What $1500 WILL get you is an MSG PTR or one of their upper end bull barrel models with accessories.
>>28282369
So? That's not a bad price for an actual Heckler & Koch made gun, compared to an amerishit gun.
>>28282381
PTR's are fine, go own guns before spouting shit.
>>28282395
No, they really aren't. There's a reason why HK91s are still more popular as they have been for the last 25 years.
>>28282403
It's because they're very sought after collector items you dumb fuck,, it's my fucking job to deal with these things. They are excellent guns, but they are not $2000 worth of difference in quality.
>>28282403
But that's not true
>>28282425
>>28282428
They aren't collectors items, they were imported as sport guns, not an art piece. And there's 48,000 of them in the country.
>>28282403
HK91s are more desirable because they are considered collector's guns after the ban.
Objectively, there's nothing objectively superior about the HK91 compared to a late model PTR.
>>28281804
feels good being 6'5" and not needing a paddle mag release
>>28281902
your not gonna find one for under 800, its not a bad price for the rifle you get either, i just got one. its worth it and mags are dirt cheap i literally have half a duffle bag full of them
>>28282369
Local shop has an unfired HK91 for $1750
>>28281902
The GI is about $100 cheaper: https://www.atlanticfirearms.com/component/virtuemart/shipping-rifles/ptr-gi-r-308-rifle-paddle-mag-release-detail.html
>>28281814
>How much does a PTR with the paddle release go for?
The GI model with paddle just came out and it's maybe $30 more than the old one (as if MSRP was ever the truth for any firearm).

It is if you adjust for inflation. If you're gonna pay $2500+ for a battle rifle, buy the SCAR17S or the MR762.
>>28281774
This is why people hate AR's.
He obviously doesn't want an AR, so why try to suggest it anyway?
Kill self
>>28284028
Do shrimp get that big regularly?
>>28281754
Yes, you need 922r parts
>>28281814
Did you not research this before? PTRs are hard as fuck to build. Do an ak or fal instead
>>28281754
SARCO has PTR-91 receivers for very slightly less.
