Looking go buy either a Mossberg 500 or Mossberg Maverick to store at home for home-defense. Leaning towards Maverick, currently, since I've read they are basically the same, but only at a cheaper price.
Thoughts and opinions on these two? Any other recommendations are welcome.

Is 500 bantum okay? It's a youth model, and it seems appealing because it'll take less space in storage. Anyone one have experience with bantums? It's not like it's too small, right?

99.4% reliability vs. 99.9% reliability. Plus unbreakable built-in sights, all metal parts that actually meet a mil-std, higher resale, etc. All for ~$100 more than a 500.

The 500 and the Mav 88 share like 90% of the same parts, however the 500 does have one thing that you can't do with the 88. You can't really extend the magazine tube on the 88 like you can on the 500, other than that they're both basically the same gun.

As an owner of a 500, I believe either will be fine. Bought mine from a buddy for $300 with 2 barrels, 2 pumps and 2 stocks, as well as a case. I've put 500 shells through it absolutely no issue.

Maverick 88s are a fucking steal. I got mine $180 brand new.
First time disassembly/reassembly was a major pain in the ass though.
