is sicario /k/ approved?
>>
>>28269665

Yes. My favourite part is that Delta use multi-cam and other current tier-1 gear, but Medellin uses 90's operator gear.
>>
>>28269744
Also del taco uses thermals while everyone else uses NVGs
>>
>>28269763
No, only the cops where using NVGs.
>>
do uptight idealists like blunt's character even exist in the bureau?
>>
It was all fine and Dandy until Blunt's character dropped her rifle in the tunnel scene. Otherwise, the movie is fucking based. Just finished watching it.
>>
>>28269878
I found it hard to believe someone like her could even be in HRT, but if it means I get to see naive idealism and self-righteousness get slapped in the face by the cock of reality, I'm all for it.
>>
>>28269899
She dropped it because it got hit, she even says her rifle got shot.
>>
>>28269899
her gun took a shot from a ricochet and damaged it i think
>>
>>28269665
kek im watching that as i type
>>
>>28269899
The gun got shot out of her hands. However, her not checking her fucking corners like a goddamned rookie that led to said gun getting shot out of her hands was questionable.
>>
>>28269922
The shit they were doing was far different and infinitly more illegal than what she was used to though.
>>
>>28269961
Yeah it made sense once they revealed she was only there to make their actions "legal".
>>
>>28269961
True, but I'd think someone who was a vet in the FBI would at least be somewhat aware of all the shady shit that goes on when Uncle Sam wants something to change in his backyard.
>>
Anyone have a safe link to a stream of the movie? The only ones I've found are shitty quality.
>>

They exist and they don't last long. GIGN had a guy resign because no one wanted to serve under him because his unwillingness to fight and poor leadership.

Ah, thank you. Still, that's inexcusable. If we're not allowed to leave so much as mags behind 'cause they might be used as IEDs, she really shouldn't leave a nice AR behind in beaner land.

The scene at the border checkpoint is great. The rest of the film is 100% garbage.

Did not satiate the tactical combat boner I had from the last 20 minutes of Zero Dark Thirty.

If I wanna see some fucker lonewolf his way through a house I could watch 3 dozen other movies. I wanna see teams intelligently working together to clear a place or just do an attack. Seriously, fuck that movie.

It wasn't what I wanted. The main character's only job in the whole film was to go "WHO ARE YOU?!" and/or shoot a person and go "FUCK!" that's all she did the whole time.

The entire tunnel scene was supposed operators firing full auto into doorways, that was REALLY /k/ right?

The Kid's dad plot had a really obvious pay off, and the twist was just unfulfilling.

It was pretending to be smart, and just didn't work.

graver even says they are there to cause a distraction so alejandro can sneak into mexico undetected, as far as the cartel and us agencies are concerned they encountered the tunnel, fought off the guards, and pulled back, alejandro doesnt exist.

Zero Dark Thirty, ignoring the attached weight and political bullshit, was fucking fantastic either way. Not just the last 20-30 minutes. I'm surprised that it didn't get more attention, I guess the OBL theme was too polarizing.

Anyways, Sicario was alright. It had some really great scenes, like the border part or the sunset/tunnel. A typical Villeneuve movie, there is always something missing and only a number of scenes are worth talking about. I wish he wouldn't stop at 70% but instead go for the full 100%
>>
Last night was my first time seeing it, bretty gud.

the FBI agents really pissed me off, but I think they were supposed to represent the average American who doesn't understand some of the things that go on and doesn't grasp the need for some unconventional operations.

I enjoyed the sound design, the gunfire was very concussive. The suppressed MK23 went thud thud instead of pew pew.

Autism mode: the Security Forces at Luke AFB wearing soft caps instead of berets, and SP brassards instead of SF, or, wearing brassards at all while stateside.

a buddy of mine at the State Dept said he would have liked it more had he not seen it already..... on his desk. Apparently there was a lot of truth in that film.
>>

>a buddy of mine at the State Dept said he would have liked it more had he not seen it already..... on his desk

If that's true I would have had goosbumps that could have sanded AR500 metal if I'd heard a guy from the State Department say that. I had no idea the war on the border was this intense.

not that anon but I have a feeling that there will be a war with Mexico later this century that could last well into the 22nd Century. That war won't be cartel related. In fact, the drug war keeps Mexico weak for a reason and serves it's purpose, once Mexico resolves it's cartels they will start challenging the southwestern US.

I was pretty surprised. I was kinda rolling my eyes that they were including this little romance element but then out comes the colored bracelet. yeah but mexico is pretty damn corrupt and they hit spot on with depicting the corruption, surprised you didnt mention the bodies on the bridge since that to me seemed the most dramatic and not a so often seen sight anymore. but she was exactly what they needed, someone who wouldn't grasp what was going on too quickly (hence not picking the black guy, he was a lawyer and had some familiarity with CIA types), and was motivated enough to be manipulated when things became obvious. She was a good cop. They're rare but they exist. She was very naive, but remember she didn't know until very late why she'd been included. It was natural for her to assume they wanted her for her law enforcement credentials, and even as a door-kicker she was still a cop. So being a professional and something of an idealist, she tried to do cop things.

Unfortunately she got it all wrong and she was only there as a rubber stamp, and nobody cared about what skills or qualities she brought to the team. Alejandro pointedly tells her to go somewhere the rule of law matters, because that's her mindset. And that's fine, we need people like that. She just didn't belong in the border zone fighting narcos.
>>
>>28282685
I think the code-switching was not un-believable. It's very common for two bilingual people to change freely from language to language, and generally the two languages are used in different registers; the mother tongue has a more personal, emotional valence while the lingua franca or colonial language is more "on the record" or otherwise emotionally detached in color. This is broadly the pattern of code-switching that Alejandro employed, from what I remember.

Just rewatched the Alarcon scene to confirm. Alejandro and Alarcon begin in English, speaking in a mostly impersonal register - "Do you think the people who sent you here are any different?", while the most emotionally resonant lines are delivered in Spanish:
"Tu hijita. No fue personal."
"Para mí, si."
And finally,
"Ahora vas a conocer a Dios."

Why couldn't Alejandro just intercept the dude at his home and have the dude drive him to the final boss? They knew where the car was the whole time. They could have pulled him over any number of times.

What was the point of the CIA talk to her about order? Are they saying that they are helping Columbian cartels because they are easier to control or something?

yes, just like the Yakuza controls everything in Japan.

How do fuck should I know? The only stuf we see on the news from the border area are cartel wars and people hanging from bridges without their head.

Yes.

He's talking about the US relationship with the Medellin cartel in Columbia. The CIA has been buddies with the Medellin cartels since the 80s when Reagan was paying the cartels to keep the Communists down in Columbia and amongst other places like Nicaragua. He was basically saying because of past agreements between the CIA and the Medellin cartel they are much more cooperative than the Mexicans since they already have a relationship. If you're really interested in that whole world I suggest reading Killing Pablo by Mark Bowden, it talks about the Columbian cartels and how the CIA was giving them money and trafficking cocaine into the US so that they would in return suppress the Communist movements.

Hello, reddit.

Why does the mex army puts their mag pouches behind them?
>>
>>28284467
The USA southwestern border states actually have lower crime rates then the national average (and are mostly progun with the exception of california).

And ironically Juarez people complained too since they have been cracking down and their murder rate is only like 1/6 what it used to be, so the movie made them look even worse then it actually was.

Are they making COD:BlOp's into a movie? I'm not sure how I would feel about it. If it was written like a COD game then you could only deliver plot ponts if it's in/at the start of a shootout. Just one long string of shootouts and set piece's... I wonder...

After completing BUD/s, I can say, that a white woman and some black guy definitely don't get to just decide to ride along with S/O or JSOC operations. Movie is such shit, we all have A LOT more magpul too.

>Zero Dark Thirty
>SEALs screaming at each other while trying to enter a building covertly
>sit in hallway, whisper guy's name in a vaguely Arab accent
>he comes around the corner seconds later only to be shot in the face

>intelligent combat
No, more like shitty 2/10 propaganda film. I read somewhere that some actual SEALs laughed when they watched it. I dunno if that's true, but it wouldn't surprise me.
>>
>>28287837
I read an interview with one of the SEAL advisors working on the movie saying they had to change a couple of things in order to clarify stuff for the audience. He said they would never talk during missions and rely on gentle taps or hand gestures, but for the movie it made sense to yell 'breacher' so the audience would know what the fuck was going on. Also Burt Macklin and the Ramses talking served to remind the audience of what just happened as they reflect on what transpired so far.
>>
>>28287835
If we can take out a fucking hiding Arab leader ask yourself why we can't take out cartel leaders the same way or even with drones since we can easily survey cartel land from space
