That's a fair point, I've seen too many games call them clips. You'd hope they at least had designers who had a genuine interest in firearms design and label this stuff.
>>
>>28264216
You think that's bad? Try liking Shadowrun and being a firearms enthusiast. I rage a little every time the writers use clip, especially since they also use magazine in some of the weapon descriptions. Though I suppose they could be doing it to differentiate between guns that have removable magazines and fixed ones, you know, for people that don't know the difference, also to save space.
>>
>>28263811
You're awfully salty.

What gets me about this is that the artist explicitly mentions the high melting point of the barrel to avoid breaking due to the heat of the plasma round.

And then they stick a piece of paper right on it.
>>
>>28264305
>And then they stick a piece of paper right on it.

You gotta have the purity seal on it, otherwise demons and shit possess the weapon and it starts growing dicks all over and shooting honey mustard instead of plasma. Great for parties, not so great for battles.

Get rid of all those retarded indents, parts that are solely intended to stick out (for the lack of better wording) while keeping the overall outline of the gun and you're golden.

>>
>>28268174
The trigger you pull is attached to something to actually pull the mechanism located behind the magazine in the stock, usually. That's what I meant by fire-by-wire. The electronic trigger I was thinking of would be some kind of motorized mechanism that would pull the assembly in the stock for you instead of having the heavy pull caused by the trigger you pull having to transfer all the way to the back of the gun.

No need to be a dick about it.

Titanfall did some guns really well. Sent try too hard to look "different" from what we already have / other guns in the game but still realistic-ush. The best guns are the ones that simply are designed to be semi practical.

R-101C is by far one of my favorite video game guns. Put an actually holographic red dot and suppressor on it and you are laughing all the way to the bank.

And really only gun aspies will think hard about it. The design looks fairly practical, and there is probably some future space muhreen / techno babble reason for why it has mags like that

I just like that Titanfalls Multiplayer is, when you think about it, somewhat "realistic" in duration compared to how that universe is

My main complaint with Titanfall was the lack of any substantial customization. They had ONE shotgun, and it was a magfed. Then they had one or two rifles that tried to be different but really failed. The 3 round burst Hemlock sucks, the main SMG becomes useless after you unlock the CAR SMG.

Where on Call of Duty 4 you ended up unlocking MP5's, P90's and all sorts of crazy shit, and then working your ass off to get unlockable scopes, dots and other nonsense, it takes one or two matches to get the accessories you want for your gun in Titanfall.

I know most rifles in Battlefield feel the same, and there is always one or two the community deems the best, but it was fun playing with different rifles and finding out what was good, and then spending the next week grinding attachments so you could customize your raifu with that specific laser and scope combination.

On Battlefield 4 I'm sitting there running slugs in my 870 with specific lights and attachments, and Titanfall I'm stuck with one shotgun with almost no options that are all unlocked in the first half an hour... And the choice between two guns when one is clearly superior. It killed potential replay with that.

I want my carrot on a stick

>>28271043

I was just thinking the other day how awesome it would be if the AER9 was real.

It has few moving parts to break or jam, no mechanical action to get dirt inside. The microfusion cells that power it are small and interchangeable with many weapons, easing logistics and allowing soldiers to carry plenty of ammo. Recoil from a laser weapon is non-existent, and the affect of gravity or wind on the beam is utterly negligible, so if you can see your target, you can easily hit it, provided it is within range of beam coherence. And it delivers enough energy on target to reduce a human body to ash; conventional body armor would be completely useless against it, and it would probably have some decent anti-armor capability.

Biggest downsides I can see are that it very clearly gives away your position when you fire, and if you manage to break it in the field, you're shit outta luck.

>>
>>28271496
Because they don't have a factory and the manufacturing capability to make the parts.

You can understand how something works, fix it with replacement parts, and not have the ability to produce more.

If your computer breaks, you can install a new motherboard. I doubt you have the manufacturing capability to make new chips and boards in your basement.

Using existing parts they probably can do a ton of cool things to existing items, however. Changing lens sets or capacitors could yield cool results. They probably have the full understanding of how the technology works they just can't reproduce it until they get the world back up and running.

I disagree. True enough, building effective firearms from scratch is a job for a trained specialist. But he's just one guy. What do you need to build a working Mosin or Kalashnikov? A working blacksmith shop, good steel, good wood, good tools.

What do you need to build a laser rifle? A complicated production line, likely vaporized in the war. You need rare earth metals from across the globe. You need very, very detailed instructions likely not found outside a manufacturer's R&D department. You basically need a chain reaching across the globe to make a functioning raygun. Kinda hard to do that in an irradiated, post-apoc wasteland.

Your homemade bolt-action, however, can be made from half the junk you find lying around. People still do it today.

>you show me how to put "electronic trigger" on styer aug. triggers are mechanical devices the only "electro trigger" that has any application are the one designed for modern black powder rifles and even them most are allowed in general season hunting

Paintball guns have been using electropneumatic operation for a long time now. It would be literally trivial to operate the sear in a firearm with with a solenoid. Trigger becomes a simple switch, and the difference in feel between an AUG and AR-15 becomes immaterial beyond the actual dynamics of the trigger itself since there is no longer any added complexity of a mechanical linkage.

Likely the only reason it hasn't been adapted to any semi-auto firearms is because of the ease in converting a firearm to full auto.

As far as I know, its supposedly a little more high tech than that in that there is a binary chemical (or chemical and catalyst agent) used to create a discharge that at the same time generates an electrical current strong enough to power the linear accelerator coils (aka the railgun part) or at least aid the capacitor charge

Is that a FAMAS?

It is a pretty good looking rifle, despite my best experience with it being used by my brother as he picked me off across the map.

Would it have to be registered as two separate weapons or one weapon?

would it have two serial numbers? 3 serial numbers?

What is the legality of the shotogun? Its OAL is less than 26 inches and has a short barrel. Would all of them have to be SBS?

You're already looking at a $200 tax stamp just for the shotgun portion of the gun.
