My oldest is a Winchester model 1897 made in 1940.
>>
It's an old English double barrel shotgun, late 19th century-early 20tj century, somewhere thereabouts.
Came from grandpa, who inherited it from some other relative.
Never really figured out much about it: the markings indicate it was made by one of the many (at the time) London gunsmiths, but I've looked up the name and never found a corresponding manufacturer.
Never fired it and no intention to: it appears to function, one hammer is just missing a screw to hold it in so it walks out gradually
No pics on phone unfortunately

My oldest is my Lee Enfield. Its a No. 1 Mk. 3* from BSA made in 1917. I shoot it whenever I have the chance since I picked up a bunch of ammo when CTD had the surplus in stock.

I also have a Steyr M95 Carbine but I have no clue when that was made, I believe it was cut down from a long rifle so it could be older then then my SMLE if I am correct but I can't find a date stamp on it anywhere.

>>
>>28260968

I don't reload but intend to get into it someday so forgive me if my question is stupid, but is it as simple as just loading shells with Trail Boss or do they need to be trimmed down? I have really no clue how it works, I'll learn someday though
>>
>>28260984
If the barrel on the rifle isn't marked, you can cast it with Cerrosafe and measure it against a regular 7.5x55 case.

Normally, they should be the same. Ensure your brass is shorter than maximum length (marked in reloading manual), load with trail boss and bullet of choice. IIRC, starting load was 12gr, haven't had the chance to really shoot enough to develop a real load though sadly. Trail Boss is really safe unless you compress it hard enough to break the donuts.

Pick up a reloading manual and read the shit out of it, they explain everything regardless of what manual you get. I have like 6 because comparing load data gets important for other things.

Thanks for the info, I'll look into it more. I love old guns but I like to be able to shoot what I buy.

Yep. Almost done restoring it. Just gotta tap the mount properly and see if the proper SVT lock nut thing that holds it all in the stock will work, fuck the lazy workaround they did.
>>28260965
Relax, it was sporterized right after the war by some company in Ontario. It stings, but I can't do anything about it now. It'll look good beside a proper SVT when I get one.

>>28261235

I sold my Winchester 94 and plan to get a 95 someday. I saw one at a show in 30-06 but didn't look at it because I was looking for a handgun. I regret that decision now, I think they wanted $500 for it, I dunno if that's high or low but its not like it matters now.
>>
grandfather's 22 pistol
It's only 50 years old so not that old
>>
>>28261252
Doesn't sound too high a price. I've seen M95's rechambered in 8.2x53R go for just a couple hundred euros, because they're nowhere close original. Usually with chopped down handguards and barrels for hunting. The 95 i have is from the shipments sent for tsar in 1916 and thus is very high valued. It even has the approval stamp on the receiver, which is somewhere around 1000$ worth
>>
>>28261273

Ah so you're not in the US then? Yeah the rifles that were made for Russia tend to be rare and very expensive here in the US, I've never actually seen one of the contract rifles, though I own a Remington M91 Mosin, which I believe was part of the same deal with the Russians. I've seen a couple M95s locally but thats at retail hunting stores like Cabelas. They wanted like $1k or more for them and they were both in .35 WCF.
>>
>>28259998
I have a 1892 Winchester I'm currently restoring.

I've cleaned it up real good, stripped all the trash off, and am currently in the process of trying to find replacements for the missing pins and destroyed screws.

After I get all the parts I'm going to take every scrap of metal and get it professionally blued. Still not sure what I'm going to do with the wood yet, but I have it all stripped and fairly cleaned up currently.
>>
>>28261297
No, I'm from Finland and that's why there's a pretty good market on Winchester m95's here. Most of the shipments went to their destination through Finland, so some guns stayed here. Also when the civil war broke out, the reds were given M95's by Russia.

How can Cabelas etc ask for 1k for an M95 when they must be more common in the States than in Europe? That's absurd.

1891 Argentine Mauser

According to its serial number it was made in 1892. Haven't shot it yet, but I ordered some ammunition. It's in really nice condition, except for the crest being ground off, should make a great shooter.
>>
1916 Spanish Mauser .308 rechamber. I have honestly never shot it. Bought it from my uncle when he was going through a divorce for next to nothing to keep in family, that was probably 12+ years ago. I asked him if it was okay to shoot, said he only shot it a couple times and said other than scratching brass it was straight.. but some time after i had it my dad and i tried cleaning it when i was younger, ran a bunch of patches through the barrel and never got one to come clean.. me being a little kid and my dad on the fudd side he decided to stop out of fear or it being corroded and fucking up the rifiling or ruing it or something and decided it would be best to oil it up and put it back until i were older and could take it to a gunsmith or something to make sure it's good to shoot.

Anybody on here have a Spanish Mauser? Lurked for years and have seen them in only a handful of threads. I have read that people don't recommend shooting hot .308 or some even saying not to shoot anything but light handloads out of it.. but i have also read people are like 'lol it's a mauser and can certainly handle .308 noprob'. Sorry, no pics, need to get it from parents house and take another look it at now that I'm an adult

circ 1890 10 ga, I don't remember the brand (it was some dude who made guns, not a major company) but it was purchased in Ellis Island by my great great grandpa and traveled to missouri on a covered wagon, it still has the dent on one barrel from it. It's a toss up a 103+ year old double rifle from Germany; H. Leue Berlin. Got it over the summer and have shot it a few times. Without worry to function. I'm more paranoid about it rusting or chipping the carved horn trigger guard or inserts.

I also own a Meriden firearms revovler that retains about 70%+ of the original nickel plating. It's 100+ years old. Haven't shot it because it is out of time.

Commercial 308 loads are too hot for it or so most people claim. I feed it ZQI brass case 7.62x51 and steel case wolf 308. The ZQI expands a little bit too much in the chamber and causes the bolt to get stuck sometimes so I only feed it a little. The steelcase is a lower pressure 308 loading and it seems to work just fine

Its not a heavy plinker of mine. Keep it around for bayonetting things and thats about it. If you want a plinker go buy another one from samco (http://samcoglobal.com/1-1916.html).

Before they were 1916 mausers they were 1893 mausers so go find a spanish 1893 bayonet. Mine is an artillery short sword from some time before 1893, its not really correct but its fucking hilarious

Got an old double barrel from Ireland that was old when it came stateside.

It's thought to be around ~130 years old now and I wouldn't even fire it with black powder soft loads. Also have a falling-block .22 that's about ~115 years old that I shoot a lot 'cause it's so overbuilt.

Oldest handgun I have knocking around is a Frommer M1912 Stop from the late 20's in .32ACP. Thing's got a shitty hammer spring and a beat to fuck firing pin, so it works on about 1/5 shots.

A single shot bolt action .22 rifle with the only thing marked on it is 1906.
No clue who made it, but I have never and will never shoot it.
Inherited it when my dad passed away.
He found it hanging over the fireplace of an abandonded house him and his brothers stumbled onto during a hunting trip in pennsylvania. They said it looked like no one had lived there in 30 or 40 years, and there was no visible road or path leading away from the house, it was just out in the woods.

I have a milita musket from the war of 1812 that was sold off as surplus, converted to percussion and cut down to serve as a shotgun. I used to use it because the law prohibited you from having a shotgun with slugs on your person during the time that muzzle loading season and goose season overlapped. Basically you could hunt deer or goose but not both, the musket let me get around that.

This was a military conversion. Martini-Enfield MkI rifles were made by fitting new barrels and stocks to existing Martini-Henry MkIII rifles. The 1881 roll mark is faint, but present on the right side of the receiver. After conversion a new roll mark was added to the left side of the receiver.

Honestly the Russian Contract 1895's were produced in numbers that dwarfed the rest of the commercial production, combined with generations of sportsmen leaving them in poor storage or simply damaging them beyond repair and you get an oddly small supply of complete 1895's in the US. Doesn't stop me from wanting a 30-06 one so damn much.
