i have a hard time seeing paper at 15yrd with a pistol.
>>
>>28259563
It isn't hard at all. Are you blind?
>>
>>28259602
i just need new prescription glasses but too lazy to use my obamacare to get it.

>bring beat up mosin to range
>ding plate at 100 yards with irons
>tacticool AR-10 can't hit plate with a $800 piece of glass
>blames gun
>take out P64 ccw from my belt (Polish Walther in 9x18)
>dink plate with pistol
>feel smug out shooting a $2400 setup with <$400 between two milsurp funs and ammo

1 minute of arc (or minute of angle for those with downs) is roughly 1 inch at 100 yards. If you have a bench rest and your rifle is capable of it you're fine. Most 22s are rated out to 50 yards though.

Hitting paper sitting without a bench rest is of negligible difficulty even for the unadept.

Really, though, don't underestimate how long 100 yards is.
>>
>>28259563
100 yards is easy. You should be able to go out to 3-400 without magnification if you're good.
>>
>>28259617
Local place charges $30 for an exam.
Glasses ordered online cost me $20
>>
>>28259563
Depends if you standing or prone or sitting and if your sights are adjusted properly. Also, form.
>>
>>28259563
From a bench I've pulled off sub-inch groups with my Swedish Mauser. Glasses fag too.
>>
Not that hard. If I had to ballpark it I would say I was in the 80-90% hit range on crazy ivans at 300m with an M4/M16 and irons/unmagnified optics.

Perhaps you need glasses, no shame in it.
>>
>>28259563
should be easy as fuck with any rifle if the targets an a4 size sheet of paper
now if your having problems with pistols at 100 thats understandable
>>
Depends what you're shooting and how you're shooting it. Of course, the size of the target is important too. It's possible, but it's not exactly easy. I've seen my dad shoot some pistols at 100 yard targets and I think that Operator Zero guy or whatever his name is has a video of him shooting a glock at long distances. I've shot my ar15 at 100 yards from a bench with irons fairly easily. It's just an average nothing special build.

Peep or irons?

My limit is 50ft with a pistol for a man sized silhouette.

With iron sights on a rifle, I can go out to 300 ft, and I'm only a mediocre shot.

Get your eyes checked.
>>
>>28259563
Stop being lazy and get your new fucking glasses or stop bitching.
If you can't hit a target at 100m with irons you're a fucking moron and shouldn't be allowed to hold a gun.
>>
>>28259563
If human sized target I can hit 300 yards 10/10 with my enfield just fine with sights. Seeing the target is one thing and is biggest problem most would have. Then posture/form play massivly into it.
>>
>>28259676
Irons. Who the fuck modifies a Swede?
>>

>50ft with a pistol
>300 feet with a rifle
christ anon, you shouldn't be telling anyone to get their eyes checked.
>>
while you are at it with the glasses you might want to see if you need astigmatism correction too.

have you ever looked at a red dot? did it look like shit?
>>
Hitting man-sized targets at 100yds is rather easy. Even with iron sights. I guess it all boils down to what it is we are shooting.

Though for the life of me, I can't hit targets at 150yds. Kind of ironic as I have no issue with the ones at 300yds with iron sights.

M16A2 and M249 for those wondering.

Agreed. Just coming into this conversion, but I have serious problem getting good groupings at anything over 50 yards, granted I don't shoot from a bench rest. My hands are just so unsteady. I've been trying to get more /fit/ in hopes of that improving my groupings.

Even with a 4x optic, I am getting 3-4moa groupings at 100 yards with my AR. I know it just takes practice, but it's a bit discouraging when I hear everybody say, "100 yards is nothing! You should be able to go out to 400 yards easy!"

Anon, don't listen to the internet braggarts, each yard mark takes certain skill. You work your way up. Sure 400 may seems easy after countless rounds down 100, 200 and 300 yards, but everyone starts somewhere.

My right eye sucks so it gets really hard to see when things get very far.
>>

Try a shooter's sling; the way the military teaches. It'll create some dynamic tension while you're in stance.

Also, practice some fundamentals with posture, like bone/bone support in a sitting position. You might find it easier than seated at a bench.
>>
>>28261089
You only need ot see your front sight post. The target should be blurry.

>cost me $20
...premade or custom made? because i'm in australia and it cost $250 AUD to get a pair of glasses ( -3 in both eyes)
