Just got back from sighting in my new 10/22, what did y'all do at the range today?
Pic related.

I haven't been to the range since September 27th.
>>
>>28257190
How come, anon?
>>
>>28257190
I haven't been since the 1st week of September.

I paid $400 for an annual pass, but I did go 4 days a week for 2 1/2 months straight.
>>
>>28257210
School, and it's been non-stop raining since I got out December 11th.

Another reason why was because I don't know how to zero rifle iron-sights, so it's just not fun to blast the dirt without hitting your target.

Just any type of iron sights, It's confusing. Terminology that doesn't make sense like MOA, trying to find the mean POI, 1/4" turn equals 1 inch at 100 yds, that kind of stuff. I'm not good at math so this stuff is really confusing to me.
>>
>>28257315
MOA means minute of angle. Think of a circle, it has 360 degrees, each degree has 60 minutes, and each minute has 60 seconds, but the seconds don't matter here.
POI means Point of Impact.

>>
>>28257348
How do you find mean POI? How many shots are usually in a group?
>>
>>28257315
Don't worry about the math or terminology, most of that is going to be for optics anyway.

Put the target as far off as you can get it and still hit paper, put three shots aiming for the middle.

If it doesn't hit where you want it move the sights and try again.

Move the rear sight in the directing you want the impact to go, if you're shooting low move it up, if you're shooting to the left move it right, etc.

Small adjustments are usually better than big ones.
>>
Got my Hi Point carbine's red dot sighted in.
>get standard paper target with thick red ring surrounding center
>turn on sight and take aim
>dot becomes practically invisible inside the ring

I managed to do alright despite barely being able to see where I was shooting, but next time I'll be sure to grab a different target.

Also complimented a /k/omrade's /k/ patch.
>where u at Houstonbro?
>>
>>28257357
Typically 3 rounds are a group, and the mean POI is just the center of those shots.
>>
>>28257357
3 usually, its enough to get an idea of where your lead is going without pissing away too many shots.
In boy scouts we did 5 shot groups, but the guns were set way off center on purpose, we shot for groupings, not accuracy.

I live in Friendswood, right next to the Pearland border.
The picture (>>28257178) was took at the Clear Creek Range.

I woke up, cried a lot, downed some oxy, and went back to sleep.

Nothing today, but on Tuesday I shot my home-built AR. 110 rounds of 1973 Twin Cities M193 fed, fired, and extracted without issue; ejected cases went to my 4:00. I zeroed the irons for 50/200. It was really fun to shoot; there's practically no recoil. It's pretty light, so light that I think the mil-spec trigger hinders accuracy because pull is heavier than the whole rifle.

Looks nice. I wish I had more options with regard to outdoor ranges, but ASC is by far the easiest for me to get to (live just inside West 610).

League City here, just bought a Benelli Supernova.

Clear Creek Gun Range is off of Tuscan Village/96, that's where I was today. They have about six skeet spots, a pistol range, and a 25, 50, and 100 yard rifle range.

>>28257491
Just took this one. I like it a lot more than the normal 10/22 stock.
>>
>>28257476
That's a really nice rifle, anon.
>>
>>28257591
That's sweet man. I've got an old 10/22 with a stainless receiver and trigger group that I was thinking about making a project of. What stock is that?
>>
>>28257776
It's a Ruger stock, at least I think it is, because it has their insignia on the bottom of the grip.
I just type it 10/22 full wood stock on google to see how many more of them there are; they seem hard to find.
>>
>>28257476
How do you like the ALG handguard? Look into gettin g some JB gold springs. They're like $10 but make a big difference in trigger pull

That's the international model. They don't quite make it the same now.
>>28257876
I've got the latest international model (from their Talo run of models). I stripped the plastic off mine, oiled it and fitted a rubber butt pad.

Also shot my PTR91 again to check zero and test Weaver Qwik-Point on it. Verdict: sight works; mount sucks. Weaver base doesn't hold very well on 1913 rail.

>How do you like the ALG handguard?

I like it. Installation is super easy if you just read the directions. I'm planning to put a light on it forward at the 10:00 just left of the front sight, and wanted a guard with slots in that location. I like not having a full-length top rail section; I can wrap my whole hand around it and even with gloves on it doesn't get in the sight line.

Thanks, anon!
That's a clean rifle you got there, did you have a difficult time installing the bipod?
