Would anyone be able to tell me more about Latin American operators?
Also general Latin America thread I guess. Stories, discussions, image drump. Whatev
I'm not sure of the official name of this Chilean Naval unit
Likewise I don't know what Colombian unit this is.
GAULA - some sort of hostage rescue unit specializing in kidnapping cases or something. Probably Colombia's equivalent to FBI HRT, though I can't really say for sure
Colombia really loves their jewguns
Went overseas a year ago worked with Brazil Columbia Peru and chile, about to hit the road though so if the threads still up I'll post.
Can't have a Latin America thread without these bad boys.

That's a habit that's going to correct itself.

Most Latin American militaries are really more like giant SWAT Teams. They focus primarily on drug interdiction and COIN and thus don't have much in the way of big, shiny pieces of equipment. In fact in almost every country the military takes the place of the cops once you get out of the cities.
As for OPERATORS of note, aside from Colombian SF and BOPE you also got the Kaibiles in Guatemala. If only because of how fucked up they were during their country's civil war.
You op, guy from earlier here. I was on the LHA6 USS America last year as part of the ground combat element. Due to me speaking Spanish I got to meet lots of Latin American operators.
Brazilians are fuckin nuts those are some hard ass dudes. Columbians are crazy as shit too. Most of these jungle operators are brown water navy borne. Let me see if I can dig some pics up. Or if anything I can pull out some Brazilian reconot operators blouse I traded for.
i am interest
>>28255594
I knew they mostly focused on domestic incidents, but thinking them as giant SWAT teams really puts it in perpective.
>>28257906
I'll take crazy as a good thing.
Colombia (with the help of US) probably ran the most effective counter insurgency operation in the world. Definitely one the top military of sudacas.
I read a book about a cuban operating in latin america during the cold war, said they were watching an enemy camp in the jungle someplace. dude went to take a shit and this cuban saw a jaguar jump outta nowhere and bit his neck before he could scream, dragged em up a tree and ate that poor nigger. reading that freaked me out
>>28254848
What is that fool on the left even doing?
>>28260262
>there are people other than the Brits who adopted this piece of shit rifle
>mfw
>>28260842
his best
>>28260914
Well, I guess there are reasons why Colombia is still fighting a 50 year old insurgency.
>>28260966
To be fair to Columbia they got alot of that cold war destabilization and amazing funding for insurgents while cocaine was still ludicrously profitably, though that's not the case so much anymore. While I'm not saying they're wonderful or anything for a nation without a strong foundations/institutions/economy they've had a bit more heat to deal with than the average 3rd world country. That and jungle is a nightmare for conventional warfare.
>>28254848
The Colombians seem to be pretty badass.

Also traded dog tags with the platoon Sergeant of the Brazilian Marines but I doubt anyone wants to see that it's just a regular dog tag. Got myself a reversible recon cap from them too that's camouflage on one side and reverses to an all black on the other side for urban ops. Also in case your curious those dudes were rocking m16a2 with Vietnam Era fold over plate carriers and load bearing vests gave me a fuckin hard on seeing them roll Vietnam style. There radio operator was fat as shit and they called him Majiin Bu kek would anyone like to see a pic? Here's a patch I traded a knife for in Jordan in case anyone's interested
Video from a reporter who went out on an anti drug op with Colombian troops

>>28261433
yea minus their officer on the far left whojust so happens to be a pale skinned green eyed direct descendant of european conquistadores. see man down theit theyre still heavily fealing the effects of colonialism. the only way to become an officer is to go through a super expensiveacademy that nobody but rich old noble families can afford. think of it as a sort of de facto aristocracy.enlisted are literal pleb tier and can remain e2 for like 15 years
>>28261436
yeah that. whatever, fuck ships.
>>28261452
that's pretty shitty reality m8. am fortunate to not be a 5'3 full-blooded indio

If you can call shooting peasants and farmers combat
>>28261334
Jesus christ they're incompetent. I've noticed all Latin Americans pretend to be tough operators but when the push comes to shove they literally freeze.
>>28261946
Mexicans are pretty effective, not a single wounded soldier

Diversity done right.
Libtards can't complain when their death squads are full of minorities.
Dat black sniper btw, absolutely badass
>>28260966
Issue is that the insurgency is no longer a communist rebel group. They're now a narcos terrorist organization
>>28261110
>jungle is a nightmare for conventional warfare.
We sure learned that well in Vietnam besides our victories

These guys seriously need bombers and napalm
>>28261901
>peasants and farmers
>mfw you have no idea what you're talking about
A Chilean air force unit, don't know the name though.
>>28261901
>these are peasants and farmers
Why do you people comment on shit they have no fucking clue about? You're just asshurt because it's the truth. For all their fancy equipment, most Europeans don't do shit.
>>28261301
That's pretty neat
>>28261901
>If you can call shooting peasants and farmers combat
So NATO forces in Afghanistan?
