Bovington has to be some mythical vallhalla that the tanks are unsure exist.

There should be some military guys that are ordered to destroy the tanks but can't bring themselves to obey the order and realize all the tanks are trying to do is live and make it to the tank museum.
Some modern tanks are sent in to destroy the old tanks, they appear gruff and obey the orders of their crews at first but then see the tanks as their parents and escort them to Bovington.
Maybe there can be an nonworking tankette that begs to join the main group towed to another tank and in a heart breaking scene has to be left behind.

We sign on know we will be trained to fight, and as we become one with our weapons, we become weapons. So in times of peace we sit idle, waiting to do what we habe been remade to do. We learn honor and bravery are closely related to horror and atrocity. Most importantly we learn that the only difference between us and the bad guys is that they kill non-combatants on purpose while we attempt to keep them alive.
