I carry my Glock 19 pretty much all the time. If I'm in a heavy jacket and thus cant get to my IWB glock ill put my 43 or a j-frame in a remora in the pocket of my coat.

Is this really necessary?

desu senpai I oc a browning hi-power, and an lcp in an ankle holster, then I also have a 357 secured between my carseat and console for when i'm driving and neither are accessable.
To add to my overcompensation, I carry a pull knife and a gerber in my pocket.
Will I ever be in a situation where I need that many weapons?
Most likely, no. I'm guessing the chances are up there with dying to a terrorist attack.
But the look on the officers face when I get pulled over is fucking comical.

No, but neither is carrying a gun in the first place. I'd personally rather have a second gun than a spare magazine. It's faster to get into action and functions as a redundant weapon should your main one be lost or fail.
I usually carry something smaller like a babby .380 to complement my FNS, but I've been trying out this 2.5" 686 with Ahrends boot grips. It's actually very comfortable.

What's a pull knife? I've only heard of push knives.

a backup gun shouldnt be a higher caliber than your main carry. thats just overcompensation.
that cant even be comfortable for an average day trip or even for running errands.

Double the gun, double the fun.

I actually agree with everything you've said. Hell, so did that one older NYC cop famous for being in an absurd number of shootouts and killing a lot of criminals. He also said that typically he was shooting one-handed and seeking cover when the bullets started flying.

You know that doesn't make any sense, right?
