Dealt with a similar issue with a soldier of mine back in the day. Kid just... Just couldn't do a fucking thing right. Heart of gold, but he just had some sort of fucking issue with being on time and staying in touch if shit changed during times I had to task him with minimal supervision. I tried to keep as much off of paper as possible, but some things just couldn't be helped. First Sergeant seeing the shit, platoon sergeant seeing the shit, etc. The breaking point was when he was assigned to Honor Guard. How or why he was picked was beyond me because as stated, the kid was a habitual fuck up. Anyways, Honor Guard had been releasing the team several hours before COB every day. None of us were aware because they never said shit to us and I had failed to think that maybe I should ask instead of assuming he was there all day everyday. Next thing you know, i'm getting my phone blown up by the sergeant major (who was one of the people who picked him in the first place) because he saw the kid walking out of the PX and stopped him.
The kid said I told him it was ok. When the truth came to light, the sergeant major got a hold of his counseling packet and pushed for separation after that. Shortly before his final out, he knocked up his girlfriend (who was fucking a few of his buddies, come to find out) and he traded in his shitty 24% APR car for a land rover with two or three times the price tag. No warning or anything to me.
I hear he's still with his girlfriend and he works for some delivery company now. The rover got repo'd. He called me several months back asking me if I knew the phone number for battalion so he could buy another company PT shirt since he had lost his or something.
I still rag on nasty girls when I see their boot strings wrapped around their ankles like a fucking boot
