Apart from recently fixing the fact the M2HB didn't have fixed headspacing and timing, so was a pain in the ass to change barrels? (M2QCB and M2A1)

There are a fair number of these

>mauser action
Since this was introduced, its been the most popular basis for anything bolt action

>inb4 1911
I'm not so sure about this one. It is still quite a popular gun among anyone I've met, especially since most of the problems it has were fixed not long after it was introduced. But that might not count for "don't fix"

most shotguns made after the spanish-american war
most fullsize or light machines gun made after WW1
most rifles or other small arm made after WW2
most handguns made after the cold war

Firearms at this point in time are a mature technology. They have been around long enough that we have been able work out the kinks that our forefathers had to deal with and currently standing there really isn't a whole lot left to improve, or at the very least we won't be seeing drastic improvements as often as we did in the past. There are still a few things to look forward to, like caseless ammunition, but not a whole lot of major gamechangers like the introduction of assault rifles or smokeless powder. Current shortcomings of modern firearms are not due to the technology being inherently primitive, but due to compromise that must be made so that the weapon itself is not cumbersome or impractical and is capable of fitting the role that it has been created for

IE
>A full size machine gun like the browning 50 cal, provides phenominal firepower and is durable as all hell. However, due to it's size and weight, it is purely a stationary weapon and requires a crew to operate it effectively. While it would be good for somebody gunning the thing in a trench or on top of a vehicle, light infantry, skirmishers, paratroopers and special forces might find it a little less than ideal
>Those same Light infantry and paratroopers are better fit for an assault rifle such as the M4 or SCAR-L. An assault rifle is a versatile weapon that can fulfill a wide variety of combat roles from the short ranges to far. While it is not nearly as durable as the 50. cal, it is much lighter. The average soldier can only carry so much ammunition on them (generally about 600 rounds of 5.56), so there is no point in fitting their rifle with a bunch of highly durable but also very heavy parts

Cont..
>for an LEO, a handgun is undeniably convenient. Comparatively speaking, it is small, easy to carry, easy to use and doesn't require nearly as much training or maintenance as a full size arm. While it is undeniably weaker than a full size firearm, this is negated by the fact that few police officers will ever come across a situation where they need to use their firearm, much less a situation where they need a full size rifle (inb4 san berdino)

>A shotgun is an inexpensive and versatile weapon. It can be employed in a variety of situations ranging from home defense, use by law enforcement, riot control, breaching, close quarters, hunting, sporting and so on. It packs excellent firepower and makes hitting your target very easy. On the downside, it has terrible range no matter how you look at it, the ammunition is heavy and you cannot carry nearly as many rounds as somebody carrying an AR, and unless you're dumping thousands of dollars for an operator shotgun (pic related), it's going to have a slow reload and more than likely slow firing

You get the idea

>Push handle til "nipple" is in the window
>tighten all the way
>back it off 3 clicks
>10 seconds for "GO/NO-GO" gauges

Yeah, that's really a pain in the ass.

Either the AKM or the 74 depending on taste. The 100 series made negligible changes and while the AEK-97 is sexy as fuck, it was still unnecessary
