And yes, female PT standards are a joke. As a male, if I was to run a "C group" standard, I'd be failing my PT test of 15:54. Females are praised if they maintain a "C group" standard. A 15:54 scoring is a 96% on their test. Male standards for pushups is 42 minimum. If a female gets 42 pushups, everybody shits their pants and she gets an award.

Most of the "combat" females have seen are the truck drivers getting hit by IEDs (which counts as a combat action). Or taking indirect fire while on a FOB. That being said, yes, a select few females have been in protracted firefights, but generally in a stationary position, unless they were gunning from a truck.
We had a female medic who'd ride with us when we went on mounted patrols. She saw combat when we got into several small firefights. Largely, she stayed by the trucks, or in the truck.
When we went on dismounted patrols, they always switched her out to a male medic. She knew, and our higher ups knew, that she'd never be able to keep up with us. Hiking those mountains sucked.

So, here's what I think. You have 2 options here, really 3 but #3 is "men only" so here we go. Keep in mind that failure is NOT an option.
#1- Roll out the sweet new BigDog logistics aid and exoskeleton tech. Equalizers, far more so than the firearms that females can use effectively already (most of 'em anyways). Tech does the heavy lifting saving all soldiers, male and female, from the more intense physical labor.
#2- Female soldiers need to take specific roles that minimize their weaknesses. Like not fighting.
Let's be honest, men and women ARE different. Women are built to carry babies and not die and men are built to do all the dangerous crap without a baby in them. Hence, we are not all 7' hermaphrodite amazons (wouldn't be too bad though). Men are far more disposable than women due to the way we reproduce.
Hell, it's 2015, you could probably take every man and put him in a coma and just wake him up for sex, world would be fine. Any of the old threats that men protected against could just be shot with a gun.

I can tell you that 90% plus of the men I served with did everything they could to get out of deployments, and then once deployed did everything to get out of missions.
They were only there for a job, or for school, or because they had no where else to go.
They cared very little about guns, tactics, learning, training. They had no love for the military, only what they could get out of it.
