Good idea.

We should post pictures of guns who's parts don't fall off when exposed to a basic ass stress test.

I wonder what a VP9 would look like if thrown from a 3 meter height. Five times.
>>
>>28075584
>Didn't even watch the video
>Still damage control.

There was no paint in the area where the mag release was, from the steel target. That means that MAC lightly throwing the gun at a rotted wood stump, or the thing hitting the soft, leaf covered ground was enough to break it off.
>>
>>28075620
Not even. A glancing blow directly to the underside caused the damn Mag release to break off. MAC would have said something when he picked it up and it was broke prior to that.

It was the way it hit direct on the mag release on the last plate.

Oh, sorry. Am I getting in the way of your Circle Jerk? MY BAD. I GUESS I AM JUST BUSY DAMAGE CONTROLING.

Jebus.
>>

>lightly tossing

Lol dude I'm not defending the VP9 but call it what it is, man. He chucked that shit pretty hard.

The most telling part for me was not the damage to the frame and other parts but the fact that it wouldn't function with a little mud. It was really pathetic. That striker channel all exposed like that is a really retarded design. HK makes my favorite firearms of all time, but they have been getting worse and worse.

>>
>>28076619
Just look at the thin shitty plastic on that paddle versus a usp, it's a huge design flaw even compared to that.

There is no way this gun would pass a military trial.
>>
>>28076662
Its not a trial gun though.

The Colt Rail Gun cracked and still was accepted. The M9 was/is shit and was accepted.

Its a CC gun. Not a military gun. I am sure if you wing a glock at a steel plate and it hits just right, it will break.

I have broken 2 glocks, that doesnt mean that its a bad gun.

Meme hate is hilarious. OH MAC DID IT, SO ITS BAD!LOLOL.

MAC also cried that the KSG caused shells to hit his skin when they ejected... :( I GOT A BUMP FROM A PLASTIC SHELL.

Dude. ALL MECHANICAL DEVICES CAN FAIL.

One was entirely my fault and a cracked locking block.

The other was a legit failure of my G17 Gen 2, with at or more than 40,000 rounds through it. For some reason, the slide just straight up cracked. Never really figured out why.

I figure the round count is pretty ok... So yeah... Shit breaks. BFD.

I'd like to see this same test on a P30. Wonder if the external hammer would help.
>>
>>28079195
Don't discount the P30 either. Some don't think the de-cocker is ambi but it's more ambi than Sig's... also comes in S variants, LEM variants, and SK, etc.
>>
>>28081126
Ah you're right. I mentioned the FNS thinking he was looking for striker fired guns (don't know how the USPc got mentioned, but I probably did it on principle)

The P30 style decocker by the hammer is really, REALLY well thought out in my opinion. Let's you decock while 'side-thumbing' the hammer for a more quiet drop
>>
>>28075470
I like hk but this is just inexcusable, glad I did not pick this up.

>>
>>28078613
Since when are p2000s US made?
I thought only the HK45 (some of them) were us made?
>>
>>28081535
May have misspoke/neglected the difference between manufacturing and assembling. Maybe only the HK45 is manufactured in the US, while the parts for some other models are manufactured elsewhere and ASSEMBLED in the US.
>>
>>28081535
I guess the only question is whether or not they're Ulm proofmarked?

This guy crammed about twice as much dirt into a VP9 and in more places on an open slide multiple times and it functioned just fine.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ghidy-kCR9E

VP9 is fine. This is one gun in one video. There's a reason for why, when the military tests guns, they test multiple guns at a time. Single samples mean virtually nothing when gathering empiric data.

shit I knew I shouldn't have impulse bought my VP9, welp time to sell it and buy a Sig P320 like I originally wanted to :(

>mfw btfo
>>
>>28083362
I think it has less to do with sample size and more to do with all of the variables. One tiny clot of dirt can jam any firearm on the planet if you put it in the right place. Moisture levels, lube used, variables in the metal, springs, polymer recipe (meaning mixture with dye can affect its strength even to a small degree), the tooling on the machine (maybe it was the end of the day and the cutting portions of the tools were worn, I worked in a machine shop and saw what stainless steel can do to CNC tooling).

And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Even in mass production, every firearm is unique to itself.
>>
>>28081126

I hate the sig decocker on the 229 and stuff.

Gets in the way of my trigger finger.

I am glad to see that ambi controls are becoming more common on pistols though.
>>
>>28083282
Yeah mainly because it seemed like the first problem was the striker channel which I understand isn't a problem for hammer-fired designs. Or rather that they're more tolerant of crap getting into the firing pin channel.
>>
>>28083362
Hey man, all that salt can be bad for you.
>>
>>28075470

These aren't design flaws, jamming from just a grain of sand is an anti-terrorism feature.

>>
>>28083988
Your post is a meme.
>>
>>28083981
I don't know if you watched the same video I did, but it's the only one that failed to fire. The CZ and PX4 failed to lock open, but that's not as severe as other things.

Unless you're referring to the mud test, which was nobody was referring to.
>>
>>28083988
It is in my opinion. Hammer-fired pistols have a looser fit in the firing pin channel that's more tolerant of gunk getting in there. But really when are you going to actually run into that in practical usage? So for practical purposes they are about the same but when we're talking stupid unrealistic torture tests then my opinion is that hammer-fired is more reliable, at least in general.
>>
>>28084007
to be honest I skipped to the "final thoughts" section because I didn't actually give a shit to watch the whole video
>>
>>28083988
>>28084012
Also, the VP9's striker channel is way more exposed than the Glock. That stupid red indicator means more exposure to the elements where Glocks, M&Ps, etc. are more closed off.
>>
I'm a glock guy. they just work. but I think the ethos of the test in OPs video is interesting.

VP stands for volkspistole right? peoples pistol, as in civilians.

With that in mind, saying it wouldn't stand the rigors of military testing seems out of scope for the firearm's intended use.

Also with the nomenclature in mind, I imagine HK made the springs just strong enough to get the slide into battery and to cock the striker so it would be more female friendly. The number 1 complaint that I hear over and over and over again from women shooters is that they seldom have the hand strength to adequately and reliably rack full size semi-autos. Their ease of racking the slide often overrides other considerations when purchasing a gun.

It certainly seemed like the springs were weak (the water test with the striker failure), and the inability to get the slide into battery with minor debris. I think the female question could be the reason for the light springs, but it could be other things.

The trigger reset being so easily stopped by minor debris was immensely revealing. the trigger group looked a little tight.

I expected the flaps to break. They're plastic. They're replaceable, no biggie.

The mag release breaking was really interesting. I prefer buttons anyway, but they could have at least made this part metal and designed so that both sides are connected underneath the trigger guard by a flat section that lays flush under the trigger guard. It would have made it much stronger.

I was on the fence about this gun. Everyone was saying, "oh it's like a glock that fits your hand like a dream". Sounded like a cool addition to my carry rotation.

I'm not so sure now.
>>

>For some reason, the slide just straight up cracked. Never really figured out why
That's the part where the rail was cut out of the slide on the inside.

The metal left there is wafer thin, it's surprising more Glocks don't crack there.
