That's a trick a lot of retailers do. Hike the prices leading up to the holidays and then put them "on sale" for less than that price but still marked up 5-10% more than normal.
Black Friday/Cyber Monday are a con unless you know the normal going rate and can save significantly beyond that.

If it's crazies, good luck getting the support to work it through congress and into laws if Sandy Hook couldn't do it with less Republicans than we have now.
