CC is more about what gun you're comfortable carrying. If you can find one in 10mm that you're comfortable carrying, then sure. I personally cc a single-stack compact .380, but that's because it needs to not print in a fitted suit. If I could get away with cc-ing my full-size 9mm, I would.
My new k98 doesn't seem to have a finish, or it at least doesn't appear to be shiny like it has a finish (don't know much about wooden rifles). Would it be better to refinish it with something like boiled linseed oil or should I just leave it alone?
I carried a Glock 29 for a while.
A Glock 29 is their compact 10mm and is identical in dimension and weight to the Glock 30 which is their .45 compact, double stack.
Generally, the 10mm is going to be in a .45 frame because it fits and they don't have to make a new frame. This was also why the .40 was invented, because it would fit in a 9mm frame.
For me the Glock 29/30 was too thick and heavy to be carried comfortably on a regular basis but there are plenty of folks out there that do it. The thing with 10mm also is it is kind of overkill for 2 legged threats and a bit anemic for 4 legged threats. Commercial loads available at your LGS if they have them will also be watered down from max pressures and it's expensive. If you're into handloading or order all your ammo from Buffalo bore etc.. maybe it's a different story for you.
I would advice against 10mm for your daily carry. Had one, sold it.

I have a Bersa Thunder 380, which is basically a clone of that gun.
Things you need to know:
1. I hate you, I want one really bad. Take good care of it.
2. People will talk shit about the slide-mounted safety, just like they do about the 92fs. Ignore them. You can flick the safety off with your thumb, without coming off the grip, and while drawing from a holster.
3. Since you said your experience is with plastic strikers: the safety is also a decocker. Engage the safety to decock the hammer. Don't try to thumb down the hammer when you want to decock it. Decocker exists for a reason.
4. If you plan on carrying it, carry with one in the chamber, safety on. This means hammer down, since the safety also decocks, but it's a DA/SA, so if you need to use it, flip the safety off and it's in DA mode and ready to go.

Lots of people are going to be a bitch about showing you everything about the gun in online sales, but if they won't let you check it out in person something is wrong with it. This still only applies to used shit. If it's new and they don't want you touching it that might just be store policy. That being said, not all new guns are quality. Certain brands just make garbage, like Century Arms and Taurus. For now. I went into the shop the other day and held and rfb, was surprised at how comfy it was, and the guy told me it was the only bullpup .308 in existence which is true for now. It's success, though slight, has proved there's an interest in such configurations. The MDR is one we may see soon, and Radom has the msbs which will have caliber conversions. Unfortunately both may never see the market.

Purely from a solvent standpoint, it seems like isopropyl shouldn't damage the metal surfaces, and it is an excellent solvent, especially if its ~90% pure (thats 180 proof)

Got a friend who is new to shooting, and is interested in getting a handgun for fun, etc. He's shot a 1911 in .45, and a revolver in .38 SPL, as well as a few rifles, but doesn't want to deal with the recoil of something like .45. What the hell should I recommend that wouldn't be a shit gun? I'm leaning definitely semi-auto, but I know approximately fuckall about .32 or .25 or .380, other than they're weak. Are they fun? Are there good guns in those calibers for people with normal sized hands?

I feel like that might be on the high end of things for him. I've got nothing against 9, but I hate to recommend that if he thought that .38 and .45 were too much. 9mm in a lightweight frame has about the same recoil as a full size 1911.

I'd think it's more of an exposure thing
I was worried about my first time shooting .44 mag, since it was the first time I'd shot any revolver over .22

With a shorter barrel, often < 4" barrels, do you have to be more selective when choosing defensive loads? Maybe the 147gr won't expand as reliably as a 124?

I only own a Mosin and an SKS, so there is a very good chance that I'm wrong, but I would imagine that, at least for rifles that are part of the same platform, the only thing that matters for magazine compatibility is what caliber it holds.

you need the correct model magazine for your gun, it only matters who makes it insofar as they make it in spec. promag for instance has a reputation of making horrible after market mags.

They never got a 4th shipment. You are possibly buying a returned gun. I think i may have bought a returned gun too, there was little cosmo on the inside with a fresh spray of what smells like remoil. Its as if everything was cleaned beforehand.
