How do I get this motor started? Do I sauder AC power plug to it and plug it in? I want to make a lathe, milling machine or something out of it.

Do you guys think I could put this on my scooter? Its a Swhinn Missle FS
>>
>>28043714
I remember a thread when /k/ was talking shit about /diy/ for some reason and now this.
>>
>>28043692
You need 240V so not just any outlet will work. Also need a 12A breaker. Your washing machine hookup might work.
>>
>>28043725
Probably that /diy/ thread where some guy cut up two very authentic looking Airsoft TIGRs and most of /k/ thought it was real.
>>
>>28043841
Dis, unless you live in yurop, it would probably be best just to find another motor... What is it for?
>>
>>28043715
it will become a missile, yes
>>
>>28043841
Okay once I get a 12A breaker, how do I get 240V in this thing? Outlet wont work so what do I do?get a giant battery or something?
>>
>>28043861
No idea exactly, my neighbors just gave it to me before moving away
>>
>>28043937

If you can't figure out how to get a 240 outlet for your house, you should just put this away before you hurt yourself or someone else with it.

And how do you think you are going to make a lathe or mill out of that? Do you have a way to hook a chuck up to it? A bed for the lathe or mill?

Your best bet is to just hock it on craigslist for fifty bucks.
>>
>>28043937
>giant battery

You should just pay someone to do it for you or sell the motor.
>>
>>28043960
he wants a portable 240v solution.
you'd have to make a battery pack yourself if you'd want it to be rechargeable.

>>
>>28043686
I would show you OP, but i doubt you live in NC

Go google it, it isnt hard at all man, just make sure to do it right and be safe.

Good luck
>>
>>28043937
20 car batteries will do it.
>>
>>28043994
Im also interested in making a stationary lathe run by an outlet, but the portable 240v seems cool for running this motor away from the outlet for any reason. How do I make the battery pack?
>>
>>28043937
It's AC so a battery wont really work, you're going to have to wire an outlet for 240V. If you do, just use a regular 15A breaker for 240V.
>>
>>28044024
I mean, you could really run it off DC but it's drawing 12A.

Do you see any links that can help me with this project?
>>
Curious to know, if I just saudered a regular power outlet to it and pluged it in the wall, would the motor do anything?
>>
>>28044076
One, it's "soldered" and two, you're not inspiring confidence that you can do this without killing yourself.
>>
>>28044076
yes just make sure you sauder it with enough barium or it will accidentally the whole lathe
>>
>>28043686
>looks like 230 volts
open the case
attach 10/2 wire to leads
attach dryer plug to 10/2
plug motor into dryer outlet
7: profit.
>protip: have someone standing next to you when you plug it in so they can kick you off of the plug if you get locked on, also keep a spare pair of shorts handy incase you get hit with 220v
good luck
>>
Why the fuck did you put that rusty thing on your white leather couch you can already see stains.....
Get rid of this motor before you hurt yourself. You have absolutely no idea what your doing clearly evident by how you want to solder a 240v line
>>
>>28044076
usually the cord is cut to indicate that it is broken, sometimes scrappers cut the cord and are too lazy to take the whole item, but copper motor windings they'd take, you can attach a cord with electrical caps, should be under a buck at walmart or wherever. if you wire the hot and neutral backwards them your motor will run in reverse, if it runs at all. cords for computers are what i usually cut and use for similar projects.
>>
>>28043686

inb4 OP smokes the windings. Just remember Smoke is the electricity escaping.
>>
>>28044351
PROTIP: breathe this smoke to gain the power of electricity
>>
>>28044324
i just read the side, don't do any of what i said.

>>
>>28044485
Holy shit no. There is a big fucking difference between a machine lathe powered by a 240V/12A motor and a child's wooden project powered by hobby drill motor.
>>
>>28044485
>You will never know how to cook anything but Hotpockets your whole life.
Jokes on you bitch I make a mean mac-n-cheese

Is your scooter AC powered?

Is your name Tesla?
>>
>>28044076
just stop, sauder isn't even a word
>>
>sauder
It is possible to get a step up transformer. From 120v to 240.
But it would be too expensive
>>
>>28043686
A drier or stove outlet will power it- /diy/ will give you more accurate (though less amusing) answers.
>>
>>28043854
They were real. Ask flandre next time he's around; they were cut very specifically and exactly for a reason. They were to be modified into something even rarer. What? I cannot recall.
>>
>>28045455
No guns- this is now a motor thread.

Reported.

Take this shit to /diy/.
>>
>>28043995
no one has claimed it cant be done by someone, but OP is a retard and is going to have a youtube worthy fail while attempting it
