Most of the people who can afford an SBR are already in /arg/ or /akg/

The nugget became the default rifle here for a reason. The majority of /k/ is literally poor.

Most people consider spending $200 on a largely cosmetic alteration for their gun to be pretty pricey. I wouldn't pay $200 for a new finish or some shit like that unless I had money pouring out of my ears.
It's all relative.
I've been toying with the idea of getting either a 5.45 SBR with a triangle folder or a 7.62 SBR with an underfolder, leaning more toward 7.62 with underfolder. I'm just really lazy and don't want to jump through hoops.
A can is fine too.
