Is there anything better than the Leatherman Wave in the under 100 bucks range for EDC?
>>
No, I love my wave. Been using it EDC for years. got it in high school(went to tech school because I can't math) I took electrical and abused it every day, stripping wire constantly, emergency hammer when need be. Then off into the work force. Never disappoints Nd I always recommend the wave.

SOG Powerlock

I have a wave and carry that on my belt at work and have put the SOG in my tac vest but I think they are interchangeable

Things I like about the SOG
V cutter
Crimper
Easily taken apart and components replaceable by the user
Components sold individually
Looser joint opens like a bailisong
Case

Things I like about the Wave
Exterior blades
Lighter
Scissors
Tiny screw driver
More bits in the bitkit
Better warranty
50% discount

I hate leathermans sheaths they suck for retaining the bit extender

And to add to this, if OP can't afford and extra couple of bucks maybe he should settle for a pair of finger nail clippers.

You know it's true bub. All that brick of a pliers-driver set that you never use and a subpar friction lock haphazardly placed on one of the handles that gets a daily workout
>inb4 but you can blow a shitton on an even bigger leatherman with a locking blade... With crap geometry... And a sub par saw... And 2 more screwdrivers than something you can pocket carry with your keys instead of needing a belt pouch

I use most the tools on my wave everyday and I work security. Some anons work a job where they need the tools everyday as well. You don't know what you're talking about. You're retarded you must have bought a Leatherman when you actually just needed a razor box cutter and now you're salty.

>>28035593
As for OP the wave is a damn good tool and I used it everyday. If you get one be careful "plunging" the knife in to anything without gloves, your hand can slip forward.

>newtrip is this mad
>I work security...
Sure thing Paul blart, you definitely need a pair of pliers, 8 screwdrivers, and sub par everything else as you walk around with your dick in hand. My mistake

Now when I carried my workchamp every day I was working forestry. Only thing I needed pliers for were bolts and removing staples. The 4 screwdrivers covered everything on the property/anything you'd ever need that didn't require a 14" screwdriver or a torque wrench. The knife, the only thing anyone ever uses, and the equally top-notch double bit 3.5" saw blade replaced every groundskeeping tool they tried to saddle me with that wasn't gas powered. I cut down trees with that little beast all the time. The full sized metal saw when needed did great as well. But I'm sure you put your leatherman through it's paces as you watch security camera feeds, right m8?

Now a pipefitter or electrician needs a leathman if he wants to replace half his Damn toolbelt, but for you and most everyone else they need a knife, not a screwdriver to pop that beer in their edc rotation.
>inb4 something something you prove my point even more
>>
>>28039676

But it is. Victorinox multitools have much better rust resistance, better scissors, and better screwdrivers than any Leatherman.

The Leatherman Wave doesn't even have an awl.

My Victorinox One-hand Trekker + a pair of pliers that you can buy for $5 at most hardware stores = a much better mutitool for EDC / bugout bag than any overpriced, shitty Leatherman.
>>
>>28040124
This
>carry a folding pair of pliers the size of a pair of pliers with a shitty friction lock knife
Or
>carry a good locking knife with every tool you need (like a small pair of pliers) in a slim package and a pair of real pliers when you need it and just the knife when you don't

And if you really, really need pliers on the regular you're going to destroy your leatherman or baby it. The number of free floating arms I've seen on folding pliers...
>>
>>28040183
>friction lock knife
My 300 has locking knives and cost me $80.

Okay, it actually cost $40 because of the taggening, but it was marked at $80 originally.

Not a new trip, just don't post unless someone triggers my autism. I work building security for a 4 story medical building, I also help with building maintenance when the super comes in. So yes I use my leatherman a lot, I'd rather have a full size screwdriver on me but life isn't always perfect so I carry what I figure is the next best thing. Honestly have you ever even held a Wave? It has a bottle opener on it you pleb.

Depends on your occupation. I'd say over all, Wave is a top choice when price and utility are considered. For me though, I "need" replacable wire cutters, as I'm cutting through grating with it and a pair of tin snips, so a Super Tool 300 or a Rebar would be a better choice. I think the Surge or one of the Charge's comes with replaceable cutters now which would be pretty snazzy, especially with that minidriver I could use for the circuit breaker screws (I work for an alarm company).

If I was a Dursert Oprer8or I'd get the Wave though, or use my Sidekick because I'm a fucking Jew. OR if I want to be a complete fag I'd get that badass MUT.

I'd say the Wave, the Sidekick, or the the Wingman are the tools to go with if you need pliers and a decent locking knife. If you're a better electrician/handyman and need the other tools on the Charge, get it. Only heard good things about it.
If you need a brick get a SuperTool300, which I use regularly as a hammer and prybar, or a smaller brick Rebar.

Swisstools are great, but their tools aren't as applicable for me. If anything a Charge would be better for me now that it has replaceable cutters.

Otherwise I'd say just get a little Victorinox (No corkscrews allowed) and a folder if you don't need pliers. Shit gets heavy if you're not using them.
>>
>found leatherman MUT on sale for $100
Should I?
>>
>>28035593
Supertool is pretty damn good, i have a supertool (original) i've had since i was probably 12-14, 23 now and havent had a problem. the lock is starting to slip, but still excellent, so i would assume they are still quality multitools.
>>
>>28041450
Are you planning on using all those tools? Would they be used often? Are they worth the sacrifice of other tools and the addition of weight? If so, than yes. It's a durable albeit heavy tool that can also supplement pieces from a cleaning kit, but you'll still need a brush.

>better rust resistance
So what? I have very minor surface rust on my Leatherman but it isn't enough (nor will it ever be) to do any damage, it just makes it look worn, which I like. If you don't like that, spend five minutes cleaning it off.

>better scissors
Not true. I got my Leatherman specifically because the scissors on my Victorinox broke. The leaf spring on the Vic. is very brittle and will break if you bend it the wrong way. The Leatherman one is a thick piece of steel that is just as strong as any other part on it.

>better screwdriver
The Vic. I had didn't have a screwdriver on it so I cannot attest to that. However, the Leatherman ones are very strong and after a long use haven't chipped/dented at all.

>doesn't even have an awl
Not once, in my nine months of owning my Wave have I had a use for an awl. So the Wave is perfectly suited for me and what I do. If you need an awl you need a different Leatherman, it's as simple as that.

>Are you planning on using all those tools? Would they be used often? Are they worth the sacrifice of other tools and the addition of weight?
Oh yea

IDK about the other anons in this thread but the pliers on wingman are easily the most used tool on the whole.
I use them easily on average everyday.
I can't stress how useful a pair of pliers on the fly is.
>>
>>28035593
I use a Victorinox Hiker, paid €27,- for it, I wish it had scissors instead of a saw though.

I was looking at the Leatherman Wingman, but I can't seem to find it for any less than €60,- here.

unless there is a specific tool not found on the Wave, you won't go wrong. although I usually edc a Victorinox Tinker Deluxe in addition to the Wave.
>>
>>28043357
$25 at Wally world a year ago but the price has gone up to mid/high $30's since The REV was rolled out.
I carry a Wave for work daily and use it all the time. I use to own a Surge. Too big and heavy!
