So... My gf has never shot a semi automatic firearm.
Ever. She came from a pure bolt action/lever action and revolver house hold.
She knows how to shoot, has shown interest in getting a semi auto weapon, but no clue where to start.
So /k/, I ask this, Would starting here on a AR platform be a good start? Just so the basics can be taught? What would you recommend?

I know my dad got me a Bushmaster AR flat top last year for Christmas. He said he found it on black Friday for like 600 dollars.
I think my friend bought a DPMS one for about 600-700 a few months ago too.

Yeah you just need to shop around. Usually the mom and pop gun shops can be good. There's one an hour from me I usually go to first when I'm looking to buy a gun.

I'd say get an entry level carbine length AR and one of those .22lr drop in bolt kits, my old man has one, and it works incredibly well out of my A4gery, though it needs a fair amount of lube of you want to magdump

just bought a ruger AR for my wife a few days back that is an awesome rifle. Its 5.56/.223 but its a basic M4 model AR and comes with flip irons sights. I only paid $600 for mine plus 2 mags. Its a good reliable weapon for a good price.
