Hey /k/, I am want to start upgrading my gear from surplus to more modern stuff.
Looking for a chest rig right now. I don't need plate carries or lots of room for ammo as I only own full-sized long guns and have no need for 20+ mags.
I own a Swedish belt set right now and I am looking into stuff like the m83 battle jacket.
Any suggestions?

OP, just get a current standard army FLC (fighting load carrier) for $15 off amazon in whatever color you want. then order mag pouches (about $7) of whatever type and color you want. then set it up yourself

Its close to what I want but the main reason I like the M83 style is for the pouches and bedroll straps on the back. rather than open webbing like the FLC.

This pretty much. It's just like the ALICE system except with, uh, MOLLE webbing. You can remove a few parts so it's just the belt too but then you'll have to worry about your gear falling out of place. Still a good option to look into getting a war belt set up. It's all the combinations you can do that makes gear sets soooo fun~

MOLLE vests like pic related (don't need to go for Blackhawk) don't cost much and offer plenty room for pouches and are extremely comfy.
