Does anyone here carry a bushcraft/wild camping bag when they go shooting innawoods? I've been putting together a kit that I plan on using tac ties to strap it to a chest rig. Being pretty new to the gun world I don't really know where to start with rigs.
Wanna rate my gear?

Ive taken it on a couple overnights, but I want input to what I could adjust to make my pack a bit better. A few things I am going to add from the experience I had on the over nights.
-even though I live in FL I still need some kind of insulation in my hammock. I'm thinking an under quilt or some type of blanket. I'd rather just bring my picnic blanket cause it's one side fleece and the other is waterproof.
-Yo-Yo mechanical fishers and speedhooks.
-Gaiters.
-Maybe a Firebox but I'm still on the fence on this one.
Not pictured:
Rothco Waterbottle Carrier
Stanley Headlamp 3xaaa

I'm not going to list this kit in any particular order:
- IFAK (R.A.T. Maxpedition Wallet)
- Tool Kit (Ferrorod-Lighter-Lighting-Whistle-Riteinrain-Watch-Boker Oilpen-Sharpie-Compass-DC4-Thermometer)
- Tarp in Drybag
- Maxpedition Rollypolly Extreme Backpack
- Gtg Fatboy (Once I break camp I like to go light when I'm hunting/fishing)
- Woolrich Safari hat
- GSI SS cup
- Merino gloves
- 3 emergency ration rice packs
- Blue Desert Hydration system for SS Guyot Nalgene
- Nalgene Guyot SS 38oz.
- Guyot SS 32 oz.
- Frogg Toggs Light Poncho wrapped in Bungicord
- Grand Trunk Ultralight Hammock
- Rope
- Two Point Sling
- Bahco Folding Saw
- Bk16 in leather pocket sheath
- Bk14 & Flashlight in leather pocket sheath

I plan on buying a Ruger GP100 in .357 and a Ruger 77/357 for woods use. This is in February. At the same time I'm going to buy a Vepr in 7.62x54r but this will be too heavy for anything more than 3 day trips.

II want to get some slav gear for both airshit and innawoods. Should I get a 6b45 like pic or a korund? Also a 6b47 helmet or maybe something else?
>>
You may want to add some packages of electrolyte replacement like CeraSport to your list.

Also add a 2'x2' or 4'x'4' section of cheesecloth for pre-screening water before it goes in your filter hose. You can fold it over and put it over the inlet for your filter and it keeps the larger flotsam and jetsam from fouling it.

Extra good quality socks and footpowder are always important even if you "think" you are only going out for a day or two.

Always bring a carabiner rated for more than 600 lbs if you bring rope. You can wrap a length of rope around a tree but and then hook a carabiner to it allowing you a frictionless (well.. reduced friction) surface to run another rope through for heaving, hauling or whatever.

Spare batteries for your primary light source.

Bug spray is always recommended especially in mosquito prone states.

OTC painkillers that work for you.

Consider carrying one or two quick lighting fuel pellets. There is nothing worse than being caught in the torrential rain with all the wood soaked and you are cold, miserable and trying to start a fire the old fashioned way. Quick lighting and save your life.

Thank you for the advice on the electrolyte supplements and the better carabiner. I open up my IFAK or the tool kit but I have spare batts for both my headlamp and flashlights. I'll go buy some gold bond and a better strength carabiner (mines a cheap 150lbs SS for my bear bag), the pain pills will be a good idea and I might throw in some strong antihistamines now that I think of it. I have a bandana that I can strain deposits with and I have recently purchased four pairs of smart wool socks. Thanks for the support bro.

>>
I like that your gear is pointed toward normal life, not just REDDAWRNINNAWOODS.

I live in Northern California, so I go out pretty light. I don't have my full kit on me right now, so I can't take pictures.

It centers around my plate carrier. On my plate carrier I have:
>three STANAG pouches
>an IFAK pouch filled with extra 10 round mags, radio, boxes of ammo, whatever else
>at least three sets of earplugs
>rope
>road flare
>two chemlights
>knife

I attached a milsurp camelbak to the back of my plate carrier, and a medium sized waterproof bag to that.
Inside the bag:
>One MRE
>One meal pouch from wise food storage
>gloves
>matches
>lighter

Future acquisitions:
-Small IFAK

I don't bring any sleeping stuff because I usually bring a waterproofed Parka that works just fine as a sleeping bag or a shelter half.

you mean like pic related helmet or something different?

If you have a US Army combat vehicle crewman (CVC) helmet shell and a liner without the standard ear phones it should work. If you have some other style helmet called a CVC I'm not sure without pics.

>What exactly about the standard earphones makes it not work for dismount but yes the us cvc woth the level 3 noodle bucket.

Depending on the model radio you may need an adapter for the plugs. If you are replacing the issue earphones with the peltors they make standard jacks for civilian radios so its not an issue.

Also the CVC is designed to be used with earphones and headsets so no its not a problem.

Been waiting a few days to ask this shit.

What do you guys have for cold weather gear? Do you just throw on your LBE and belts over winter coats or what?

Reason I ask is because I am wanting to get a battle belt for range purposes, and I wanna make sure I can actually wear the fucker without freezing.

Nobody really makes insulated LBE
>>
>>28023782
>Nobody really makes insulated LBE

Sure. Does having that extra layer present a problem for retention?
>>
>>28023741

I bought some surplus ECWCS ACU goretex top/bottom a while back that was stained/dirty for $30 total. My area doesn't get much snow and it works for the woods/mud/dirty forests around here.

I can run around in that and a light layer underneath with my kit for a couple of hours without overheating or getting to cold.
>>
>>28023741
Op fl fag here but I was born in WI and that's where my senpai lives. It's pretty basic for myself when I go. Auto wicking base layer (I wear a dickies shirt), insulating layer (wool is my choice), and a waterproof shell works best. Complete with fingerless merino gloves and leather work gloves are enough to help me out. Thick water resistant hat/skullcap and gaiters to keep slush out.
I wrote that in case you didn't have a good idea on what to wear, but in my reason I would just wear your gear where you normally do and just adjust your clothing to the weather like we again, normally do.
>>
>>28023816
>I wrote that in case you didn't have a good idea on what to wear

For living in MN I really don't. If shit gets apocalyptically cold I have a nice Carhartt winter coverall, but that mufugga is so thick and heavy that I rarely break it out.

This is my first winter with AK, and I'm in better health than the previous year, so I want to actually do some fun tactical drills instead of just standing there like a dope inna snow.
>>
>>28023758
It's already been done the in the picture.
>>
>>28023804
Not really, most LBE can expand to fit fat as fuck people so its just letting out a little slack to get a snug fit.

Of course your fingers wont work as well when cold but no gear can help that.

Learn how to use a bank line, and get circle hooks instead of speedhooks. #50 dacron line is cheap, light, and doubles as super-duty sewing shit. The yoyo reels are nice but weigh a ton.

Have you used gaiters before? Are you after snow gaiters, scree gaiters, or general-purpose "I'm tired of my calves constantly being wet/muddy" gaiters? Because there are differences, and each one comes with its own unique difficulties.

My good insulated winter coats are actually jacket-length (one wading jacket since it's a waterfowl parka and one ECWCS layer 7/8 combo) so a battle belt still sits low enough (with a jacket-slot holster) I can get to everything.

Also, come late fall when I can no longer comfortably wear -just- a softshell, I swap to a slick PC and pull out my FLC.
>>
>>28024364
Thanks for the tip on the bank line, I'll look into that. The gaiters are a water and mud issue. Florida likes shitting on us with brush, plus it'll keep water outta my boots.

GSI SS cup and my SS bottles cook my meals. I have a Stanley cooker that nestles into my guyot 32 oz but it just depends on if I'm cooking for more than myself. But usually I've found if someone else is coming I don't really end up using it.
I plan on buying a Vargo 750 ml or something like with a lid, because I like to use my 38 oz SS as my hydration system resevior. But it's squared off so I cant fit my Stanley.
>>
>>28023194
That's really, really awesome. Where do you go to do that? I'd love to, but my area is full of "protect the wilderness" retards and rednecks who will shoot you for coming within ten miles of "muh gubmint proof fortress"(read: half acre with shack).

I take it you mean chest rig? Fuck it, why not? All of my kit stems from my chest rig. My SHTF strategy is much more "extended camping" than "one man SEAL team"; So my setup reflects that. More of an emphasis on mid term living than on combat.

Another thing I try to keep in mind is staying modular. Keep the basic setup and be ready to add on depending on the task.
>>
>>28023741
Not sure how cold you're talking. The coldest it's been here (norcal) when I've gone shooting is about 40 degrees with rain. I wore a fleece, soft shell, chest rig, and waterproofed parka in that order. Kept the parka unzipped with the waist drawstring loosely tied so I could get to my magazines. Not as practical as I'd like, but It worked.

I've been thinming about getting an appropriate camo waterproof smock or cape to throw over my kit just in case.

Like pic related or colder.

We in Minnesota are lucky to not have the insane winds that NoDak & SoDak have, but holy fuck the last two winters have been the coldest I ever remember. One day last winter I was out blasting away with my 12ga in -25f conditions.
>>
>>28030016
I don't have any experience with anything that cold. I guess you could wear a thermal undershirt, fleece, heavier jacket, and a waterproof poncho(or one of those weird Russian gorka things). That'd keep down on the 'puff' factor and allow you to have your rig on the outside. Or just buy from a company that tactical fatass like to buy from. Condor's MCR1 can be adjusted to XXL if I remember right.
