I dont feel like my ar15 is adequate enough for innawoods anymore now tat i have included innaplains into my regiments. huge wide open spaces over 1k yards from treeline to treeline. Am i just paranoid or are there more adequate guns I should be looking at.

It sounds like you paranoid about some weird shit hits the fan scenario where you'll be moving through the woods. How easy is it going to be for you to come across more 6.5?
I'm not saying that 5.56, 7.62x39, or .308 are just going to be lay around for you to pick up, they're still going to be a lot more common should you need it and probably more likely to find.
If you want to build a 6.5 AR, then do it. But don't use your SHTF fantasies to justify it.

You can shoot almost 1000 meters with 5.56 if you're a good shot. You should be fine, but if you really need something, get an AR10.

It's not about being that great shot. What if shtf while you are out there. Or some you stumble by some crazy cultists. Things like that. I'll look into ar10's. Getting a hit on target is easy under stress at distance with a bigger bullet than with a 556

The Geiselle is great. I got an amazing deal on it but it's perfect. I climbed at side of a mountain with it yesterday and put 62gr M855 onto a 14" x14" steel plate at about 675 yards (as guesstimated by using GPS on my phone.) It's got a perfect break that let me drop rounds on that plate all day.
