At any rate I will answer your question:
Helicopters in general have extremely high accident rates compared to say commercial airlines. A malfunction in a rotor or stabilization system can be catastrophic.
America has a Fuckton of helicopters, and unlike many nations we use them a lot and train with them a lot. By statistics alone, they will have more absolute numbers of crashes, even if our rate of crashes-to-flight hours is lower than say international average.
