Is there any point to buying a bolt action in this day and age, other than children pretending to be elite snipers?
>>
>>27968033
They're more accurate, tend to come in bigger calibers, are stupid simple, and often times just plain fun.
Most surplus rifles are bolt action, meaning they're cheap too, which makes them good rifles to start with,
>>
>>27968033
More accurate than semi for their price range.
>>
>>27968033
>what is fun
>>
>>27968033
Mechanical simplicity. More compact action assembly. No secondary and tertiary recoil impulse effects. Easier to engineer for desirable barrel harmonics.
>>
>>27968082
Baby don't hurt me
>>
>>27968033
Really? Are you going to hunt with a lever action or pump action rifle?
>>
>>27968093
>desirable barrel harmonics

Is this a meme?
>>
>>27968033
They're sexy as fuck?
>>
>>27968108
Semi-auto.
>>
>>27968033
super simple, accurate.
I can tell you how to service one in a paragraph. Try that with an AR or AK
>>
>>27968108
>lever actions
Lol. Now there's a gun that's only justifiable by sticking your fingers in your ears and screaming "LALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALAL, FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN!".
Pump action rifles are stupid as fuck 'cause of tube mags. Ditch the tube mags and they're okay-ish.

If your state allows it then yeah I guess. If you're going for coyote's or talking about when shtf then most definitely. Bolt action rifles are still much better suited for long range marksmanship however.

>>27968137
Yeah a lever action would be pretty sweet to have. Actually this would be fun as fuck though, but way too much for a range toy.
>>
>>27968110

No.
>>
>>27968033

Have a problem with people who want to pretend to be snipers?
>>
>>27968110
how is that a question ?
>>
I thought they were more powerful for each given round versus semi auto since they don't have to siphon gas to cycle the action?

Is that... is that an 03 chambered for 45-70...?
>>
>>27968225
Who sees a rim-less case like that and thinks ".45-70"?
>>
>>27968137
Levers are faster than bolt actions. Followup don't require repositioning . generally come in meaner calibers for stopping predators and can be operated with a busy hand (horse reins)
I mean lalalala I'm not listening
>>
>>27968033
They are cheap, and personally I think they are pretty fun.
>>
>>27968216
This is true. Because gasses aren't being redirected to move the action, there is slightly more velocity. Also, because there aren't any moving parts after the trigger is pulled, there is also a slight improvement in accuracy.
>>
A few of states won't let you hunt with a semi auto rifle, so there's that
>>
>>27968246
>faster than bolt actions
Semi autos. What was that about no repositioning and being worked with one hand?
>meaner calibers for predators and shit
You mean every caliber made for hog hunting and shit?

Fave it man, they're expensive add range toys. Everything you could have justified them with is covered better by either a semi auto or a bolt action.
>>
>>27968225
Yeah definitely a rebated rim. Maybe something like a 45 Raptor or 450 Bushmaster.
>>
>>27968282
Let me clarify the caliber stuff (I don't think it was clear myself)
.50 Beowulf, .458 SOCOM, etc.
Those kinds of rounds.
>>
>>27968216
Technically yes, realistically to a pretty insignificant degree, movement caused by the action cycling is much more likely to have a noticeable effect.
>>
>>27968236
>>27968295
it's a 450 Bushmaster
>>
>>27968302
Dude you can still get a much more affordable weapon to fulfill that role. Understand this. If you really feel it's worth it over a semi auto, then that is your opinion. Cost is objective however.
>>
>>27968329
I know. And that would be the whole "the only justification for them instead of a semi auto or bolt gun is fun"
>>
>>27968318
Thank you. I didn't even know this was a thing.
>>
>>27968344
Oh shit son wrong anon.

>>27968329

>>27968246
>>
>>27968135
You can usually get a better bolt action cheaper than a semi auto

This wasent about semis. Semis beat everything else hands down.

They are faster to work than bolt actions
The bolt doesn't stick out 3+ inches out the back when rechambering
45-70 stops a wolf or coyote much faster than a 308 or other popular hunting round. They don't just stand still like deer.

Now calm your attitude boyo. I never said they were better than a bolt action. You obviously can't reload quickly, use spitzer bullets, or expect 300 yd accuracy. They're fairly niche field guns for non office jobs. Sure you could carry an Alaskan revolver instead, but this has more range
>>
>>27968246
>leaverguns come in meaner calibers than bolt guns
They come in a bunch of fatnslow, heavy recoil, extremely inefficient rounds. Calibers that pack a punch at a distance are usually in bolt guns.
>>
>>27968302
.50 beowulf and .458 socom were designed to be AR upper conversions

Are you stupid? 5.56 is pretty much the standard for yotes
>>
>>27968417
Thanks.
>>27968496
That would be he entire point.
They're only around because people wanna pretend to be Cowboys, and I really can't judge (AK's because remove kebab, Jericho because bebop, etc.)
>>
>>27968033
Yeah, because I like them.
You aren't any better than the gun grabbers, you fucking faggot.
>>
>>27968033
If you oper8 better with it, what's the problem?
>>
>>27968512
>>27968545
Are you dumb miggers even reading

Tell me you're going to stop a charging bear with 5.56 at 300+ yards and claim self defense.

Coyotes are minor, wolves not so much. I know you city folk see squirrels as the biggest threat but damn.

if you had gone a little easier on the paint chips as a lad you might know that there's plenty of levers in modern, high pressure spitzer calibers
>>
>>27968033
they are fun and in my experience comfortable to shoot. they are also in my experience more low maintenance so they are good for poor fags such as myself. also if you live in the uk your choice of firearms is limited so you have to make do.
>>
>>27968110
No nigga.
>>
>>27968876
leverguns are memes. It's like a bolt action, but inferior except for rate of fire, which of course is made pointless by the existence of semi autos. They are also expensive. Cool guns though
>>
>>27968033
They're fun as fuck.
>>
>>27968033
More reliable, more accurate, simpler, not banned in my continent, fun, etc.

lever guns have more giggle per round than any other weapon

if you cant have fun with a lever gun, you need to check your pulse.
>>
>>27968033
Yeah man, there is a concept that applies here I think it's called freedom or something. You know, a combination of personal preference and the ability to make your own choices.

T B H if ever found myself in a combat situation on my home soil, I would be taking long range shots, then getting the fuck out of there before the bad guys can respond. So a battle rifle would suit that better than an AR.

I love my Savage Axis SR. I love shooting it. I love how it's just a fucking tube, with a bolt, a firing pin, a trigger and 2 springs.
>>
>>27968181
>$979

I'd pick that up in a flash if someone sold them here. They're legal to own but no one exports them so I'd have to order one directly from Chiappa.
>>
I also love I can shoot it just as well OR BETTER as most people at the 300 yard range, using .308's, or even fucking .338's. And yet my whole setup cost a fraction of theirs.
>>
>>27968246
>Followup don't require repositioning

Guise, I found the guy that doesn't know how to shoot (or basically has Michael J Fox levels of coordination).

>meaner calibers

And he doesn't understand how action strength works either.
