I've determined that I have terrible judgment when out comes to my gun purchases, and keep buying shit I just end up selling at loss later.

Springfield Micro Compact
>$1,000
>3" 1911
>full length guide rod
>Made in Brazil stamp
>nicks on slide
>heavy as fuck
>prints like an Inkjet

Lionheart LH9
>somehow ordered the wrong model, accepted anyway out of excitement
>DA+ trigger pull jostles the gun
>SA trigger pull too heavy
>internals gouged by someone botching roll pin installation
>slide gouged from rear sight installation
>the whole thing rattles and feels cheap

S&W 4013
>single stack .40
>overpaid about $200
>broken trigger return spring
>rare, expensive mags
>FTFs all day long
>still not sure what possessed me to buy it

Polish TT33
>point of impact is way off the sights and COMPLETELY random even at 7 yards

Wilson Combat 92G
>$1200 for a Beretta
>shitty finish that flakes off
>slide refuses to lock back on empty with any mag
>not even as sexy as an Italian FS

What the fuck am I doing with my life? Please tell me I'm not the only one making stupid impulse purchases. If I am, learn from my mistakes.
>>
>>27964453

>Springfield anything

I've made this mistake twice... an M1A and a GI 1911. I hate both of them. At least I was able to get rid of the M1A for a reasonable price. The 1911 is my only pistol at this point, so I don't want to get rid of it for the time being.
>>
Everyone makes mistakes. You just make a lot of them. I'll go ahead and assume you have two problems:
1) you don't properly research the guns your buying
2) you don't "sleep on it," which would kill 99% of your impulse buys.

I've rarely kicked myself about "the ones that got away" because there's always something else coming in. Just sell what you have for as good a price as you can get if you don't want them (although I'd keep the TT33, as it IS milsurp and that's always nice) and be more cautious about what you buy.
>>
>>27964480
Is there anything wrong with the GI, or is it just a "wish I'd bought something else" situation?
>>
>>27964491
I'd love the Tok if it wasn't for the fact that I can't even trust it to achieve minute-of-badguy accuracy.

I guess it's kind of silly, since I'd never carry it, but it looks of sucks the fun out of shooting paper with it. I don't expect a gun made in the early 50s to be a tack driver, but it's kind of ridiculously bad. The barrel looks okay, not sure what's wrong with it, unless they're all like that.
>>
>>27964498

Little of both. I get setback every time I chamber a round, doesn't matter what ammo I feed it. Maybe a sixteenth of an inch at most per chambering. I sent it to Springfield and they said they couldn't replicate the problem and sent it back. That may have influenced how I feel about it, but I'm pretty "meh" about it at this point. It's my first pistol, and I wish I could have tried a few out before I decided on it.
>>
>>27964480
>>27964453
Wut? I have had everyone and their mother telling me Springfield is the gold fucking standard for a basic 1911
>>
>>27964498
from a practical standpoint gi sights suck
>>
>>27964524
That'd bother me too. I'd be surprised if you couldn't just make an even trade with it for something more practical, though.

They are. And their customer service is sick.

I just got a Springfield armory loaded
>pic related

Only have 150 rds through it so far no malfunctions
>>
>>27964539

I've been looking around for somebody willing to trade a decent Hi-Power or clone for it. I suppose that makes me a Browning fan-boy, but I like the way it looks and feels in my hand. What I really need to find is a range that'll let me rent, but I'm in Korea right now so I'll worry about it more when I get back.
>>
>>27964552

Everyone tells me it shouldn't be noticeable on the first chambering though, and it is. And I've bought all kinds of ammo and the problem still exists.
>>
>>27964557
Honestly I'd just swap it for a LEO trade-in Glock 19 or something so you have a decent HD and carry gun, then buy a nice Hi-Power when you have the money together instead of settling for a mediocre clone.
>>
>>27964558
its probably the mags
feed lip angle is sending em straight into the feedramp instead of angled

if the gun cycles its a non issue
>>
>>27964572

I thought that too, since the factory mag was a piece of shit, so I bought a Brownells and a Wilson and the setback persisted.
>>
>>27964570

Sounds like a plan, I was considering selling it and getting a hi-point and a truckload of ammo at the suggestion of a friend who owns and is eerily proficient with his own hi-point (6-8 inch groups at 25 meters), and practicing with that to see if I liked 9mm or not.
>>
>>27964535
maybe the gold standard in Brazilian 1911s.
daily reminder that the Springfield armory of today was founded in the 70's as an importer like interarms or CAI and has little to no relation to the legendary US arsenal
>>
>>27964640
Who makes better 1911s for $700?

Colt? No. Kimber? No. Who?
>>
Ive had a few.

>P938
>frame damage from factory due to faulty safety
>have to send gun back 3 time to get it fixed

Ruger mkIII Hunter
>$550 for a .22 pistol
>also scratched from factory with a jacked up rear sight
>sent back twice and still not fixed

Walther PPS
>machining marks on slide
>trigger on mine is fucking awful. so gritty even after a full cleaning and untold dryfires
>loose backstrap after removing it twice

HK P2000sk
>bad finish on the slide from factory.
>polymer frame gouges super easy.
>HK mag prices

Im done buying sight unseen online for a while.

Bought a Makarov off Classic Firearms, the safety is stiff as fuck, it took me an hour to snap it back in place after cleaning the firing pin. Fucked my thumb up, and no matter how many times I scrub my hands I can't get rid if the smell of cosmoline. Mags fit in really tight, scraping and not dropping free.

It sure is a pretty gun though, hope it shoots well and loosens up a little.

I honestly laughed at OP'S comment. While (imo) I haven't had buyers remorse with guns, I have made bad decisions in other areas of life. Before I buy a gun, I do tons of research, read tons of reviews, go to the store and fingerbang the gun several times, go home and obsess over the gun in order for me to purchase one. I guess the closest thing to what you're describing I could relate to would be my springfield xd, but I'd never sell it or any of my guns.

Yeah, I regret buying my Springfield M1911-A1 and not the Loaded.

That said, I'm sucking it up and pretty much getting rid of everything but the frame at this point.

I just ordered a ton of parts from Wilson Combat, some new grips from VZ, and I'm going order some stuff from Ed Brown this week, and then decide on what trigger I want.

Going to polish the brushed finish and I'm getting my slide cut down for night sights.

I already have the gun, so fuck it.

You got to enjoy the quaint, rustic charm of a stock 1911 for a little while, and now you're going to transform it into exactly what you want, which is infinitely more special than a generic Loaded model like everyone else has.

RIA 1911

Jammed at least twice a mag, even with Wilson Combat mags.
It also couldn't group for shit, even from a bench rest, and even with multiple shooters.

I called RIA about it, and they told me that it has a 500 round break in period, and they wouldn't work on it until after I'd put like $200 in ammo through this turd.

I ended up just throwing it in the garbage.

I'm assuming I did.

But for how much /k/ praises their customer service, they really fucked me hard.
They wouldn't even do anything for the accuracy issue.
>>
>>27964987
I just regret not buying a model that has already been cut for dovetail sights. It's been flawless and has eaten everything I have fed it. Though I will admit that I haven't put any steel cased rounds through it so I don't know about that.

I actually prefer the frame and the slide on the A1 because they're just simple and not too flashy and I wanted a stainless steel finish rather than blued or parkerized. But in the end at least I'll have the gun I want.

>>27965035
Definitely, I've enjoyed it for almost two years and was thinking about selling it but I decided to make it into the 1911 I want now instead. I just need to find a smith able to cut my slide.
>>
The guns I have sold are
>10/22 takedown 5% regret
I had another 10/22 that I got for cheap and someone was willing to pay $450 for the takedown. The only downfall was o had to listen to his gun show-tier rants about confiscation for about a half hour. Might sell my 10/22 and buy another takedown if I can find one for $200 or so.
>Remington 1100 0% regret
It didn't have sentimental value or anything. I bought it for $320 and sold it for $400 a year later. I've got two pump actions that I prefer for burd hunting
>Beretta Nano 66.6% regret
I got a good panic price for it but it was a nice compact pistol. They can be had pretty cheap now so I'm thinking about buying another and getting my CC permit.
>Waffen Werks 74 25% regret
Just sold this a week ago. It initially had problems but I sent it back under warranty, I've only shot 100 or so rounds since getting it back but it seemed to Werk. I have a slr104fr which I like better, and I need some funds for a Garand, so out it goes.

You need to research shit before buying it. Going into a store without any predetermined intent on what you want to purchase is something girls/women do.

Shit bro, that sucks. I have a P938 and P30SK and the only 'problem' I've had has been preemptively sending my Sig in for an MSH replacement (I payed shipping only). HK's been flawless so far

Increasingly regretful shit though?

You buy the LCP because it is so small and can carry it no matter what you're wearing without it printing.

Yeah, it's tiny and for those with us with big hands it's not comfortable to shoot as a full sized handgun, but I definitely trade the discomfort factor for the portability. It doesn't affect accuracy, at least for me.

IIRC you can swap out the barrel and mag in the .40 pps and make it a 9mm.

As it turns out, they also replaced the mag catch. No idea why - I had a couple fully loaded extended mags fire flawlessly and when I went to eject, they had pinched my glove and never even seated. Either a testament to the gun working well, or my vice-like grip

Turnaround was so fast I barely even noticed too

I haven't bought a gun yet that I regret getting. Even the 80 dollar shotgun that had the lug for the stock screw shear off gave me more fun fixing it than frustration of having a broken gun. >>
>>27966115
Every time you chamber a round on any gun, the bullet will get pushed back into the casing ever so slightly. Chamber the same round enough too many times and the bullet gets pushed too far back into the casing to be safe.

If this is your carry gun or your HD gun that you leave loaded or load and unload frequently, number your defensive rounds and make sure you are switching out the cartridge you chamber so that you aren't re-chambering the same round every day.
