Wouldn't a light machine gun be more appropriate to fit the crusaders role?

Whatever you have in your hands as you dance through afganistan taking kebabs to hell.

Why?
>>27949856
Seems appropriate with the heavy armor. A knight is not your everyday soldier with your everyday assault rifle, he brings a shiny armor and a big sword.

It's the best choice to mow down a shit ton of unarmed civilians while also suppressing military elements in a small arms package.

Knights had the same size of swords as anybody else during the crusades. Better quality, perhaps, but there was no "knightly sword" unique to their social and military class.
I'd say a grenade launcher would be a decent equivalent for a lance. Hard-hitting, used at the beginning of the battle before fighting up close with other weapons.
