What does victory even look like?

The entire Middle East is a mess. It's going to take centuries for its inhabitants to sort themselves out. Too many languages. Too many ethnic groups. Too many religions and religious sects. Too much poverty. Too little education. Too little infrastructure. Too much instability.

If I could wave a magic wand to fix it, I would.

But it ain't gonna happen.
>>
>>27947893
Well since Russia intervened, the opposition has been getting more support. Programs to train rebels fighting ISIS is going ahead.
Turkey and Arab states are trying to unify the opposition, but extremists still have a strong and growing foothold in Syria.

What is there to win?

Muslims are genetic predisposed to violence. What does the state of winning get you?

The only value the middle eastern states have is giving combatant is a nice spot to get experience on the battlefield.

Fuck winning. Winning an ideological game is a fool's priority. Go there to have some fun.

When you use this term, please be specific. What is the endgame your imagination came up with?

In my eyes, we are experiencing the perfect scenario. A scenario where a warfighter is always able to find a war.

The greatest teams on Earth, VDV, GRU, SFOD-D, GIGN now have a world filled with constant belligerents.

Don't worry about an endgame. Just worry if you got "yours".

A world where an illiterate religifag will always give you an excuse to blow it away.

A universal enemy. An enemy that wants to destroy everything equally.

We live in a truly perfect time.
>>
A world where the only targets are consistently the urban folks who try and empathize with ISIS.

And the only ones willing to kill on those limp-wrists' behalf are the ones they hate so much.

This is so much better than the Cold War.

If you ask America, and their typical disregard for reality, they will tell you that 'freedom' solves everything.

Like, everything. Literally free kebabs and goat-milk rains from the skies to feed all the starving. Like instantly. All they need to do it to have 'freedom'.

Sounds almost like what the communists would say, only with 'freedom' replaced with their ideology.

I dont know. Maybe America is just that evil.

what are russians doing there?
>>
>>27950556
You mean, Russia?

Because the US is doing jackshit to actually "kill" ISIS. This would piss off your Saudi and Qatar (and Israel) buttfucker friends.

One year of US bombing of ISIS hasnt achieved as much as Russia's several weeks worth or bombing. ISIS losing Kweires, losing Aleppo, losing their main supply routes... Everything achieved by Russia, as oppossed to America and their super hardcore hightech special force kebab removers and their drones (that seemed to be not enough to stop the spread ISIS to Palmyra, because it was guarded by SAA and not FSA moderate terrorists).

Seriously. America is the reason why ISIS won, and Russia is the reason why ISIS will die like dogs.

I wouldnt be surprised if the US openly flies CAS for the ISIS one day when they are driven into the corner.
>>
>>27947893
>you are the FSA

The FSA will probably get a few cities out of this. They will never throw Assad out as long as Russia is helping.

Assad can either get rid of ISIS or the FSA. Even with Russian help he doesn't have the power to do both. Putin will probably create some kind of truce between the FSA and Assad (Putin). Probably with the stipulation that they reject the US and Saudi Arabia.

Well let's see: you have Turkey supporting ISIS because ISIS is anti-Kurds
You have Russia supporting Assad because hes the best of a bad lot and will actually keep the Russo-Syrian alliance that they've had since the 60's.
You have the US supporting FSA (in reality Al-Nusra and a dozen guys in the New Syrian Army), who don't do much beyond bomb the occasional powerstation, hospital or oil convoy....

Currently it looks like the Syrian Government is winning, so at least there will be less people burned to death in cages and whatnot.
>>
China, Cuba, Russia, and Iran are supporting Assad. So they are going to bomb everything not Assad.

USA, various OTAN, Jordan, Turkey, and some sunni shits are bombing ISIS and things not Kurds.

Turkey is also bombing the Kurds.

ISIS is fighting everyone.

Kurds are fighting ISIS, Assad, Al Queso and other groups. Also the only group not ISIS that is capable of anything significant in ground combat.

Iraq is in it too. They have managed to just stop ISIS, sort of.

Russia, USA, and others are bombing each others' proxies and trying not to accidentally themselves. Starting WW3.

Saudis and Persian Gulf Sunnis are supporting ISIS and the USA's fight against ISIS.

Israel gets their nose involved every so often to bomb Assad's military assets.

Then you have ISIS franchises in Libya, Afghanistan, Egypt and Nigeria.

ISIS cells in Europe and America.

All the major powers can agree on. is that Syrians must decide the future of their nation, at some point.

How are we supposed to get "victory" out of this ?

We support the Sauds, who are wahhabi supporters, sure they might be fighting ISIS now, but they allow radical fundamentalists to spread their ideologies and to some extent encourage it because it helps the house of Saud govern.

On the one hand they're good allies against Assad (and through that Iran, Russia and China), on the other they are enablers of radical ideologies that lead to terrorist groups like Al Queada and ISIS.
>>
>>27955350
Iran has actual potential in becoming secular. They are actually experiencing cultural liberalization while Saudi Arabia is becoming a bigger cultural backwater with each passing year.

If it weren't for their close ties with Russia (in that it will be Russia's proxy), I would totally love to see them become more powerful in the Middle East (it would also certainly help Israel in not fucking over the US and the west as often)

Can anyone explain why people chimp out over barrel bombs? I mean personally I don't think I'll never understand why people freak out over "barrel bombs". I mean... for what fucking sake does a DIY unguided munition differ from a factory made unguided munition? Yeah they're inaccurate... but what do you expect for a country that has been in a civil war for years on end with little outside support until recently. I mean we can get all high and mighty about "barrel bombs" and "targeting civilians" but guess what. They're fighting an insurgency. Sometimes innocents will get in the line of fire and die. It happens, it's war, and another reason to avoid it all together. Unfortunately an unnatural force seeks to topple their secular, albeit somewhat authoritarian government, with a radicalized Caliphate which would adhere to a strict application of Sharia. Any moderate opposition left is stuck between a rock (Assad and allies) and a hard place (daesh/IS, Al Nusra, Islamic Front, etc). That moderate opposition that the US and her allies half ass backed has gotten us here. It was never about winning the war, toppling Assad, or anything. All it was about was destabilizing another largely peaceful middle eastern nation. Please though nigger, go ahead and bitch and moan about barrel bombs but before you do, ask if it would matter if they were using other munition or if the opposition should stop using "hellcannons" which are just and inaccurate and indiscriminate.
>>
>>27955356
I should have clarified that the post is a response to your "moderate islamists"

During the cold war the US and Saudi Arabia flirted with Wahabbism because it was a good way to rally Middle Eastern peoples against Socialist and communist governments like that of the Soviet Union or the Baath party.

Problem is we never tied those loose ends after the cold war finished and the House of Saud found that they had to rely on wahabbism to govern
>>
>>27955382
too lazy/jetlagged to explain it myself so im copy-pasting from wiki

Some commentators and institutions have labeled "barrel bombs" as incendiary devices, which are banned for use against populated civilian areas under the terms of the UN Convention on Prohibitions or Restrictions on the Use of Certain Conventional Weapons. Human Rights Watch has insisted that the employment of these weapons constitutes a war crime.[6] According to Victoria Nuland, of the United States Department of State, "barrel bombs" are "incendiary bombs which contain flammable material that can be like napalm" or can be packed with nails and launched from the air or from a launcher.[62]

In December 2013, Russia refused to back a text at the UN Security Council that would have condemned the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad for carrying out such indiscriminate attacks on civilian areas.[6][63]

On 13 January 2014, British Foreign Secretary William Hague referred to the usage of "barrel bombs" during the conflict as "yet another war crime."[64]

According to Nadim Houry, the Middle East and North Africa deputy director for HRW, the reason for the Assad government's use of barrel bombs is that it doesn't fear any strong international action.[65]

Syrian opposition representatives have repeatedly requested from international allies, and been denied, the transfer of anti-aircraft weapons to moderate rebel groups, in order to target the aircraft used to drop "barrel bombs".[66]
>>
>>27955388
But literally of all barrel bombs are just regular explosives packed in a barrel or drum, weld some fins on if you have the will, and then drop it out the back of a Mi-17...
>>
>>27955394
they gotta find a way to set them off somehow. Which if they ignite them with incendiary devices then the bomb as a whole is technically a crude incendiary device (according to the critics logic)

In all honesty they're just saying it because they want reasons to justify attacking Assad or justifying his departure from government should there be a ceasefire.

All they're doing is finding reasons why he should leave, like in most wars.
>>
>>27955350

Iran's consistently done nothing beyond supporting local terrorists gorups as catpaws against their regional rivals and kept them on a tight leash. Not even remotely comparable to the Saudis and their whole schtick of exporting their radical shitheads into uncontrollable international terrorist organisations.
