Is there any way to remotely detonate tannerite without shooting it?
>>
>>27947052
I don't know
>>
>>27947052
i'm sure a blasting cap would work
>>
>>27947052
Nice try mr ATF.
>>
>>27947052
Throw a rock at it?
>>
>>27947084
I should have said "commercially available"
>>27947086
Not illegal at all.
>>
>>27947102
Throw rocks at it REALLY FAST?
Like, 2,000 fps fast
>>
>>27947052
ISIS please.
>>
>>27947052
Have a friend shoot it
>>
>>27947052
isn't tannerite anfo without the fo?

ammonium nitrate
aluminium powder which iirc makes anfo more sensitive
>>
A smaller, but high enough velocity, explosion. So a blasting cap which can be made at home if you want to risk death.

I mean, a possibility would be using a piston and an incredibly strong spring to generate those kinds of 1500+ fps velocities. I don't know anything about the viability of that, though. Rotational tension generation might be more efficient.
>>
Probably any sort of fuse or detonator. The bullet causes ignition because it scrapes little metal fragments, it has to be up to a certain speed to reach a certain temperature. You just have to reach that temperature which likely isn't high. A magnesium fuse would definitely do it.

>>27947171
It would be horrible for bombs, its not very powerful. The shrapnel would hit you about as hard as a bb gun.
>>
>>27947112
You can easily make a blasting cap, or something similar in effect. I don't understand why this would be an issue if you want to make tannerite go boom.
>>
>>27947183
Yeah. ANFO is pretty non reactive. I've used Tannerite to blow it up before.
>>
>>27947052
Mix tannerite with nitromethane (gas for drag racers)

Fill 5.56 casing with mercury culminate and insert cannon fuse then crimp case closed around cannon fuse

Insert ghetto blasting cap into container of tannerite mix

Light cannon fuse and haul ass.
>>
>>27947052
I imagine a round rigged up to a remotely controlled firing pin inside of the tanner it itself would work...
>>
>>27948442
probably not, because tannerite needs the velocity of the bullet to detonate.
no barrel = no velocity
>>
>>27947052
DId you try shooting it.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ammonal
>The detonation velocity of ammonal is approximately 4,400 metres per second or 9,842 miles per hour.
>>
>>27949138
Detonation velocity is not the same as shrapnel speed.
>>
>>27949156
Which still doesn't mean fragmentation from a high explosive detonation will be traveling with the same amount of energy as a 500 FPS BB.

If it's fragmentation picked up off the ground or shards of lightweight plastic from the target jar holding it, I could see his point, but ball bearings or nails intentionally packed around a container of tannerite will NOT hit "as hard as a BB gun".

ISIS pls leave
Where's the mods when you need them?
>>
Try the electronic match from a model rocket.
>>
>>27947052

Just use some C4.
>>
>>
>>27949192
tannerite isn't illegal

get rekt kiddo
>>
>>27951355
Won't do it.

OP: Why not just remote-trigger a firearm with the 22-oerable tannerite? Like, a shotgun slug in a pipe sort of thing?
>>
>>27951375
Why not?

it takes an energy pulse of 3J-3.5J p/ms to detonate the binary, so you're really just going to have too shoot it.

Only thing that can give you that amount of influx that isn't a bullet would be a blasting cap (illegal to own). I guess you could use a bomb to do it, but why use a bomb to set off your bomb.

Just shoot it like you're supposed too.
>>
>>27951405

tannerite does not detonate from electrical charge, or heat. it requires a kinetic energy pulse of rapid expansion, as i describe here >>27951460

What if Op had a lot of Tannerite
>>
>>27951493
Thank you. So could I stick an M80 in it and remotely detonate that?
>>
>>27951555

maybe, it depends on the p/ms energy output. it might work, might not. only one way to find out.
>>
>>27951667
this anon is right, better stick 2 m80s in the middle

Mix nitric acid with mercury.

so this thread seems appropriate to post this question. I left some tannerite in my car and it hardened. Is it still safe to activate and shoot?

So making a novelty noise maker is illegal now?

Yes

Yes, you ISIS fuck. No loud noises for you!
>>
>>27947052
Tannerite's very stable.

You'd probably be able to set off a pipe shotgun next to it remotely but it's still technically "shooting" it.

tl;dr build pipe gun, load shotgun shell into it, attach to tannerite, detonate remotely with a string or RC controlled solenoid.
>>
>>27952414
Would a shotgun slug even generate enough speed to detonate it? I was told by my (admittedly fuddish) uncle that you'd need something that goes pretty fast like 5.56 or .30-06. Forgive my stupidity if incorrect, I don't know a whole lot about tannerite
>>
>>27947052
Get a 37mm flare launcher, then get a reloaded 37mm shell. Then make a round filled with tanenrite. See if you it will go bang when it hits and not blow up in your hands.
>>
>>27952456
first result for "shotgun tannerite" shows there's a thing called "low velocity tannerite" and it works fine with birdshot.
>>
>>27952466
Huh, that's pretty neat.

Bb gun tannerite when
>>
>>27949192
ISIS has better shit and easier formulas ironically. Most criminal networks do too.

Tannerite is a pretty weak ass explosive if we're being honest.

>Bb gun tannerite when

Hopefully never. Anything sensitive enough to be set off by a bb gun is way too sensitive for me.
