Threat to correct some of the ignorance you see on this board. Post something that people commonly get wrong or are unaware of.
Pic related. These are not fake/drill or airsoft pistols. They fire 9mm simulation (plastic tips with paint) rounds and are used for CQB training. I've seen plenty of people asking why the troops are using blue pistols and offering completely wrong explanations. You also get replacement bolts that allow rifles to fire 5.56 sim rounds with no other modifications to the rifle.

Glocks and ARs are terrible weapons. US military and police always seem to pick the worst option when it comes to weapons and gear. They picked baby blue karate pajamas as a uniform ffs... Weapons and vehicles made domestically suck and we make terrible decisions.
>>27946256
why are they terrible weapons?
they seem to be pretty accurate and reliable to me, if a little bland.
Buckshot is effective out to much further distances than most people believe.

Chick lean is real, but tons of bitchy guys have it too.

People constantly say shoot/shot when they mean fire.
I.E.: "I've only shot 1911s in .45."
>>27946734
not that guy but it was blatantly bait.
>>27946308
my calculations suggest a maximum effective range of 30 meters unless an unusually aggressive choke is used
People think that the more expensive a mil-surp weapon is the rarer it is. But in truth there are many super rare mil-surp rifles and such out there going for bargain prices just because people don't know what they are.

The groove in a blade is often incorrectly identified as a 'blood gulch', with the explanation being that it exists to allow blood to run out of a stab wound, making it easier to pull out the blade.
The correct name for this groove is a 'fuller', its purpose is to stiffen the blade or to lighten it.
They kinda sting.

I think that ammo availability plays a role in the value to.

True. It should really be renamed bitch lean.

Yeah but you don't even have to use it. It can just be an investment which you leave in a nice dry spot just accumulating more value.

Anyway, they lighten the blade while retaining as much stiffness as possible without simply leaving the blade alone.
This is not seven bags worth. More like five.

Or... You know...to make extraction possible from a body by allowing the blood a channel to run down. How does removing metal stiffen a blade?
>>27946256
Faggot jelly Russian detected.
>>27947312
The same way corrugated steel is made more rigid by putting folds in it.
>>27947365
This has to be bait.
>>27947312
See
>>27947216
It doesn't stiffen the blade, it lightens the blade while retaining stiffness.
100% of the time, if you remove material you lose stiffness. However, certain shapes are stronger than others, so you can remove material without weakening the blade by any significant amount.
>>27947365
That is not quite the same thing. Yes, by changing the shape of the steel you strengthen it, but it is extremely relevant to note that you did not remove any material like you do cutting flutes into things like blades or even rifle barrels.
>>27947312
Putting a groove in a blade in no way makes it easier to remove it from a body and I don't see why it would.
Also check the wiki if you want to know how removing metal stiffens the blade.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuller_(weapon)
>>27947312
Literally, because engineering. Some shapes are less prone than others to bend. This is why things like C-channels and I-beams exist; in a way, the material is forced to bend a certain way. Hell, even things with the same cross-sectional area can have radically different properties.
Pic related, thought I had one for I-beams but can only find one for channels.
>>27947447
This as well. Fuller tools deform the metal, not remove it. In a common form, it's just two cylinders welded with a C-shaped strip; you put it where you want the fuller and bang on the top of it.
>>27947434
...How is that bait? Are you saying that they're wrong? Because they're not.
